Hi everyone,
I just want to share with you the good surprise I had.
The other day, I go to my spot with the good weather. It's a little swamp in a nature reserve.
Usually, I go to an area of the swamp where I know there is a good depth. Unfortunatly, the plants hasn't grow enough yet to hide me from the nearest road. So, I decide to go in an other area where it is max hips deep, but where I have more intimacy.
There, I found a small "island" of mud in the middle of the stream and I was somehow attracted by that.
So I get in from the tree nearby and...
Oh, what a surprise, I easily sink in the soft mud to my hips and feel no bottom. So I easily continue to sink to chest deep without difficulties.
I didn't thinked that I can achieve that deep in this area. That was surprisingly good.
The mud was soft and also thick, I enjoyed that sinking a lot.
Under my feet, I didn't feel any bottom, so maybe I can manage to sink more but I didn't try because I was already satisafied by that surprising sinking.
Happy with that experience, I wanted to share it with you, so I take these pictures. Sorry for not showing you the spot before my sinking
Definitely, after exploring some swamps, this one is mine for the many times it satisfied me and for some other reasons.
Next time I can go in, I think I try other spots to see if I can found other surprising depths.
A good surprise

When the boy ask : "Where can I find mud?"
The man answer : "Follow the water."
So be the words of a wise quicksand fan.

Looks really nice. Does it dry up a little with the right weather? (So the mud will become thicker)
I'm already chindeep in this mudbog and every desperate attempt to move my stuck legs only drives me deeper in. The thick mud slowly swamps my waders and my arms have nothing to hold onto.
I'm feeling home.
I'm feeling home.

Glad you found your own spot. Curious what the weather is like right now? Warm enough for you?
This is a great answer to the eternal question of of how to find mud. Go where the water is and look for it.

It's a dirty job but I got to do it for over 20 years. Thank you.

Yeah, sorry Bill, but I'm in Belgium, I can't help you...

I haven't go there enough to correctly answer to you. But this is a stream, so I think we need a drought to see it more dry.
Maybe I can go there in the next days and tell you more because the wheather here was dry. Not very warm, but whitout rain from a few days, so maybe it dried a little.

When I was there, it was just after a rainny early morning (I was there around 11:00 a.m.). It wasn't an heavy rain, but enough to make some puddles on the pathway. When I was there, the wheather has become sunny without clouds and the warm of the sun piercing through foliage was very good on my skin. The warm of the air was around 11°C. It's a bit cold, but the warm of the sun helped me with that, as I said, and I didn't feel the cold. The water was very cold, that's a fact But in the mud, I didn't feel that cold, so it was good
Now, from two weeks, we have a sunny wheather whitout rain and the warm is now around 20°C. So, it's a better wheather to go there, if I can.
Usually, I make that kind of outings by sunny dry wheather with a warm above 10°C and no wind.
One night, I have been in an other place with a good warm but by a windstorm (because no one goes out by a storm ) and it was very cold, I'll never do that again

Exactly, "Follow the water" is maybe the best answer to that question

Hi everyone,
I taked some new pictures of my swamp at my last trip and I share them with you
They are from after my sinking or from areas where I didn't sink this time.
Just for the pleasure of sharing my swamp with you.
Enjoy and, for the artists, feel free to use them as background or inspiration for your arts.
