Plagiarised QS image?

Postby redjak6t4 » Sun Aug 07, 2022 10:23 pm

There's an artwork sharing site called Artstation.com, which I look in on from time to time.

Today, when I entered the word 'quicksand' as a search parameter I saw an image that looked familiar to me.

I can't recall exactly which producer's work this is, but I'm sure its a rip off being offered up as a piece of original artwork.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. :(

It's one of those pics that somehow got viral. A while back someone found it used in a religious pamphlet, also seen it used in several semi amusing memes. 8-)

That's from MPV in the Philippines. It's a great dramatic image that's been used in memes and illustrations all over the web and was probably taken from something like that. I'm always amazed at the mileage that's been gained on some of the stuff from this genre. Every producer faces this and depending on how it's used you just have to roll with it.

It's a dirty job but I got to do it for over 20 years. Thank you.

At least they put a lot of work into it first to try to make it theirs rather than just steal and display the original photo. Make 'em EARN it. 8-)
