Quicksand Fans

Parts of SoCal have been hit by some really heavy downpours here and there causing some mudslides in areas.
A group of dirt bikers were being interviewed on the news about this and one of them described the mud as being "like quicksand."

Jeez. IS nature punishing them? I'm in north California near San Francisco and it's been spring weather the whole way. Even during the heat wave it only reached 97 for a couple of days and then dropped to the 70s and 80's again. No rain at all. I had a 6-month spring with a 1-week summer.
