Duncan - Thanks for the thoughtful reply. I agree. Although I hate spiders worse than my strong and capable wife, I am still the one who gets to squish them. I would even put up with a scene where Xena saved the Beastmaster, although I would prefer the reverse. I saw the stuff about the upcoming Snow White movie - looks like a good one to skip. I think, in a movie, anyone (male or female) stuck in quicksand, would call for and welcome help. It just so happens that I really like watching a nice looking woman sinking - my bad, I guess. We can keep hoping together for future scenes.

Duncan Edwards wrote:Damsels in general have been ruined by political correctness just like everything else. Disney is currently trying to sort out a mess where the star of the miserable politically correct remake of Snow White referred to the Prince as a creepy stalker. That doesn't leave much room for women in peril.

Now unlike parts of our fetish, reality actually favors us here. Any of the ladies at work needs something reached, lifted, carried, we get the call. My wife is a fitness instructor and a very capable, physically formidable woman, who won't squish a spider. For damn sure she wouldn't deal with all the rats in the barn. If you really want the attention of the woman who loves you, go kill something for her. Works great. Nowdays in the movies it takes someone with super-outsize charisma like Dwayne Johnson to utter a line like Woman, I am the cavalry! and women gasp for all the right reasons. What we get most often is 100 pound women on screen throwing huge guys around like physics is an evil part of political correctness too. Girls are now taught by much of popular culture that if they aren't just like men they are somehow less than perfect. You're never going to get them screaming hysterically for a man to come save them from anything much less our favorite jungle hazard.

But I'll keep working on it.

Don’t forgot opening jars and tearing the inner tamper/freshness seal whatchamacallit off of bottles — I get tasked with that all the time :)

Yeah, I always think the same. I get that it’s complete ignorance to suggest that women are inferior to men (and vice versa), but depicting a 100 pound woman wiping the floor with three, four or five plus 200 to 300 pound men in a fight is equally complete stupidity (unless it’s a superhero thing I guess  ). Even my Mom hates that in TV shows and movies, and she has a black belt!

And in addition to the PC bull crap, I think some of it is also lazy writing. You don’t have to write a female character who’s completely helpless. I wrote a stranded/survival story once with a man and a woman and sort of given and take, helping each other theme. To me at least, it’s much more interesting watching/writing a more dynamic character who’s sometimes strong and brave, and sometimes uncertain and needs a little help, as opposed to a character who's always uber-strong, ever-confident, and knows exactly what to do at exactly the right time. Like I said, the latter is fine if it’s a superhero theme, but the former is more interesting and true to real life.
Finally broke down and went to see a psychologist. She told me I just have an overactive imagination—and it really excited her. We're going sinking next weekend. Theo's AI Quicksandbox New stuff every weekend (unless life gets in the way)

I agree with your hope for a future scene. Is it just too out of touch now to have a helpless female scene? I don’t think the Vera Miles scene was insulting - the nurse character was being brave and just got lost. Anyway, I guess we can all just hope.

Ya know…you just might have given me an idea for a shoot idea

Thank you! Soon. I have the plan thought out. I know what I want to do and how I want to execute it however I want to do an indoor location which is proving problematic. There are a couple of working studios in the area that MIGHT be ok with me building a set there but it’s up in the air until spring. In the meantime I might be buying supplies here or there until I am ready to pull the trigger.

In the meantime, I’m loving the new lenses and what I am managing to achieve with them!
