Gas Prices
I am not sure what is going on but the price for regular unleaded at the station nearest to me has plunged by 21 cents per gallon in the last five days, to 2.94. ??

Re: Gas Prices
According to a few news sources it's because several refineries have finished maintenance and are now back up to full production.
That, and all the speculators made their Ferrari payments for this month.

OK, that makes sense. The trouble is, I'd rather make dollars.

Honestly I just don't worry about it, because it's not like I can't buy gas if I think it's too expensive.

Indeed. Just yesterday, I spent $15.39 on one cheeseburger - no bigger than a Big Mac - and one undersized miniature cupcake. And that was to-go, not a sit-down meal. And no fries either. WTF..?!
I have a pretty strong theory as to why, but it involves a political rant, so I'll just keep it to myself. lol

Re: Gas Prices
Inflation is up. War is disrupting the global grain supply. Droughts causing high feed prices have lead to record low cattle numbers, that drives up the price of dairy cow culls so there goes the price of milk. We're still dealing with supply chain issues post covid as well. It's a whole bunch of stuff all snowballing together.
Want cheap meat? Hunt. I'm sitting pretty on half a freezer of deer steaks and hamburger from last November. The whole freezer only cost me a Buck. And a Doe.

Wait until the new "wealth tax" is enacted and existing tax cuts are allowed to expire. Gonna make "corporate greed" seem like very small potatoes. The biggest cost in most any operation is labor. Seen what's happened to that lately?
It's a dirty job but I got to do it for over 20 years. Thank you.

Re: Gas Prices
When I started this thread I was just reporting a fact and asking if anyone knew the reason. I had no intention of starting anything that would go political, but that is what appears to be happening. I hope that stops.
