QSF Server Upgrade

Hi All,

Due to the chance of some bad stuff occurring due to disk space usage (unlimited doesn't actually mean unlimited for some people), I have upgraded the level of server service for Quicksandfans.

This should get us out of the woods on disk space, and also boost performance a bit.

The upgrade only cost $120 or so (prorated to the end of the year). But the total cost for hosting is now close to $800 a year. The largest expense is the firewall - which I was more or less forced to implement.

Short of setting up a Patreon for the expenses, I guess I would suggest buying some scenes or signing up to Club MPV if you want to help out.

Ok, so the site migration is underway.

There shouldn't be any noticeable disruptions. But if there are, hopefully they will be brief.

I'll update this when it is reported complete.

An update...

In order for the migration to take place, the amount of disk space the board uses needs to be reduced. This is being worked on.

I'll have more information tomorrow (Saturday).

Ok, the server migration seems to have completed, with an attachment successfully uploaded in two of the forums.

We had to prune some of the forums in order to reduce disk space used. This was to meet the storage limits for the site migration, and to also make the site more portable.

By springtime, the board should have a new home and be completely up to date version wise.

I believe that it was completed at midnight PDT, because before then, I couldn't save drafts (had to copy and paste to TextEdit to save my work and then subsequently finish it), and most of my photos in my Adventures thread were missing, with a text at the bottom of the posts saying I didn't have permission to view the attachments. At midnight, I was suddenly logged off, and when I logged back in, I noticed that already-read posts from that evening were marked as unread and I noticed that one new post vanished from the "News from the Great Swamp" thread (didn't check to see if any other new posts in other threads from that evening vanished). Other than that, everything was working normally again.

And, I successfully posted my latest adventure, with 9 attached photos in part one, and 7 attached photos in part 2! So, all content posters are back in business!
