This is why Quicksandfans does note promote or encourage solo sinking trips.

Don't know if this guy had a cell phone with him, or if there was coverage issues or what. He got lucky.

I will refrain from commenting on the competency of the cops who investigated the car (and fence) only.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say the main problem was (according to the cops that were talking) that he had a Cinderblock chained to his leg. WTAF.

Do we know if this guy ever posted on here or has some sort of previous involvement?

Not only is it a great way to end yourself but as you can see this guy will be financially and legally paying for this stunt for quite a while.

Apparently, he wasn't solo for at least part of his time there. He claims a guy named John was with him and then left. Don't know if he left before or after Andrew got hopelessly stuck, but the video makes it sound like he was involved in the kettle ball decision and execution.

The person involved appears to be known to some on the mud network and there was a mention from a year or so ago of someone having brought kettle balls to a mudpit and who was threatening in some way. I'm going to refrain from mentioning any names associated with all of this.

The other, their argument was over his mud fetish which triggered his visit to the quarry. What amazes me is that he survived in such cold weather which in turn raises the question of would he have been so obsessed as to be doing mud in such cold weather.

This may well have wider impact on those of us who do quarry mud as this got quite a lot of attention and continues to attract full submergence breath control practitioners on r/quicksand and some Discord forums. The security officers at these quarries share this type of information and I suspect that the subject disclosed a lot of details about his mud fetish activities and associates.

This is going to get some people caught this year. And I am also concerned that it is going to draw some people into doing extreme breathe control stuff with mud who would not otherwise have been so inclined to incorporate quarry mud into their activities.

Anybody remember NotNormal? He almost certainly had his girlfriend with him. If there was indeed someone with him that left him and did not summon help, that will probably lead to further action.

I was thinking the same thing, it was just getting warm enough for sinking here but now I'm going to put any/all adventures on hold for at least a month or two and see how this goes.

My opinion? This was either attempted murder or attempted suicide. Even if "John" was there, what was his plan to get him back out? The only obvious answer is there wasn't one. You're not just gonna reach down into quarry clay and pull up a 100lb Kettle Bell

We're all adults here, so I'm not gonna tell anyone their business, but playing with weighted sinking can go very wrong very fast. Quicksand does not understand safe words.

We met up a few times here in Jacksonville and talked pretty regularly, as we both frequent the tidal mud in the Guana area. I haven't heard from him in about 6 months or so, but I know exactly who and what you're talking about from last year. I can confidently say that he wasn't the aggressor whatsoever in that situation. We chatted about it and he had the whole conversation screenshotted backing up his side of the story.

He's an all around good guy from my personal experience who was already going through some shit last we spoke. It sounds like the break-up just drove him to the point he didn't want to be around anymore. Does it shine a negative light on the community? Maybe. But I wouldn't wish 8 days of exposure on my worst enemy. I genuinely hope he's getting the care he needs.

If I'm understanding you correctly you're reading this as a suicide. If that is the case, any idea of what is up with the presence of the other person? If that person assisted with the deed, say by assisting with the kettle balls, that is often viewed as attempted homicide.
