The Future of QS Productions

Greetings everyone. With the news that the Soft Dangers stores are closing, I realized that Studio588 is the only one still producing scenes; all the others (judging by the Producers section of this forum) have retired or disappeared. As for MPV, which still has an active store, they are no longer producing new videos. This isn't a complaint; I’m just wondering what the future holds for this community.

At first, we were loners who hid our hobby or fetish out of shame or fear of being labeled weird, and we took scenes from movies, series, and animations we watched in theaters, on television, and on home video. Then came the internet, with websites and forums where we all connected and—for the first time—felt that we weren't weirdos, realizing there were others who shared our tastes and fetishes. Later, online stores began offering amateur-produced scenes; I remember the Quicksand Page was the first webpage I found with the quicksand theme as a hobby.

But time passes and things change; we get older, producers retire, and studios close. I understand how complicated it is to set up a scene and clean it all up the next day, especially when be older and sometimes doing it alone, without any help. Today, the only ones still producing videos are Studio588 and a group of guys from Ukraine called QS4Ever, who have made some great videos. Now, the advent of AI and easy access to video generation tools allow us to create our own scenes. We no longer need to dig up our backyards, hire actresses, or buy expensive materials to create quicksand; a well-crafted prompt and some visual references of our character are all it takes to generate the desired scene (the image of the girl in my profile picture is an AI creation).

This might spark a debate about the future of quicksand scene productions... What lies ahead for us as consumers? Will we shift from buying from the remaining producers to generating our own scenes using AI? I’d love to read your comments. [link removed]

I believe it was ever thus, Darth Mau.

When I was a kid telephones were things made out of Bakelite that could be found in peoples home or in neat red telephone 'boxes' on street corners. Oh and there were also smart blue Police telephone boxes with a blue light on top, but that's another story. ;)

Ditto computers and the internet. But where are the dedicated internet cafes now? The answer is in everyone's pockets. We carry our telephones and internet cafes around with us now. Technology advances, times changes and what was once popular becomes yesterday's news.

The same changes over time have happened to me in a quicksand-related way. As a spotty teenager I drew women sinking into quicksand, transitioned into Photoshopping them into quicksand and now use AI to do the same.

All I can say is this, Darth Mau.

If the time of QS video production really is coming to an end then, as a community, I believe it falls to us to remember the great names you've mentioned with fondness and warmth. They blazed a trail for us which we eagerly followed. They broke new ground and we should be eternally grateful to them.

With sincere respect,

Redjak.

I think our community will be OK . . . QS4ever have just released a preview of upcoming acenes to be releases between now & July 2027, plus we still have jumpoff Joe & Studio 588's large catalogues to keep us happy. Regarding AI Viridian's work on Deviant Art is getting more realistic ( Especially the cheerleaders series ) with each release, so I for one am not too concernes, but interesting comments just the same :)

Firstly, this will be the one and only time that a mention of QS4Ever will stand here at QSF. Roman ran the largest pirate operation on the internet for a while - and specifically targeted MPV. His arrogant and defiant attitude was the icing on the cake. He has never apologized for costing me tens of thousands of dollars and running several other producers (DIDVP, PRP, Nessie) to the ground.

I am allowing mention of him because he is an example of what piracy has diminished the producer pool to; individual guys working with limited resources.

The best videos ever made were made by multiple 'producers' getting together (often with additional crew), utilizing truly professional models - often at far flung locations. Won't ever happen again.

I apologize, Dave; I had no idea about the situation with this person or the harm he caused you. I was wondering why he didn't have a presence on this forum. For my part, he will not be mentioned again.

And since piracy has been mentioned, it is another factor that has caused great damage to the community; this isn't Hollywood, which can withstand the blows of piracy.

the custom video i am most proud of is Jungle Bounty, with Anabelle Pync and Nyssa Nevers
when you look at the raw footage from numerous cameras, and all the people involved, it's an awesome collaboration
i'm just glad it happened at least once!

No worries.

It's been three years he was outed at the main QS Discord server (as well as at UMD). So it's inevitable that folks have come to see him as a 'normal' producer. He's not.

Speaking of UMD, Messmaster somehow convinced himself it was ok to allow Roman to sell there. Greed Over Principle.

You did a great job there. Really enjoyed being part of the creation. It is likewise one of my favorites.

What is a hoot is they are probably the first ones to complain about pirates stealing their work. The irony

So what's the future? The effects of piracy have certainly taken their toll. That missing 10% at the top was what made it possible to go places and do things with some incredible ladies. Easy access to locations has become more challenging too and that doesn't help. The economics of production have changed so those best days will likely never be better.

So what does that mean? Fewer producers leads to less diversity in locations, talent, scenarios. Fewer choices. Pre-Covid years were probably the peak for all time. I know personally we felt like were were catching our second breath and entering another "golden age" of production at MPV until organized piracy really began to hurt like 2015-16 and later. Age of most producers was also becoming a factor.

Where do we go from here? Artificial, now Super Intelligence, has been coming since it was first discussed here in 2022. Impossibly primitive at first we have now reached the level of practical use we've been waiting for. We can use it for upgrading public domain work like MPV recently did with the original Krystal Scene. It's almost inevitable that early next year will see some original, complete, scenes emerging. Just as before there will be more offerings with more producers. Super Intelligent creation is far from free but has lower costs. Ironically this is likely to have a substantial impact on remaining live action production not only for costs but we can make anything we can imagine. We can also make it interactive as Chimerix just demonstrated here for the first time - https://janitorai.com/characters/11f4f8 ... haracter-i

The compass of digital creation points the way but pitfalls and challenges of the journey are still not completely clear. Those with existing creative teams, production and distribution facilities, and a record of enterprise and agility might make 2027 a very interesting year.
