Hi there, I live in metro atlanta, and was semi able to create my own quicksand pit, the mud is about waist deep standing up but is wide enough to lay down in. I was wondering if anyone in the area wanted to help me make it deeper, or even play around in it... its best to go in the evening hours because the lighting is better, and it prevents anyone seeing us through the brush...

Okay, anyways, I've been a bad sinker and haven't gotten out to my spot in months, even though its only 50 yards away from my house. (it was really hot and spiders and ants had taken over the pathway, and I'm a huge arachnophobe). But anyways I went out there this evening after the remnants of Lee came through to see if the rain had any effect on my hole... It sure did, the mud that was in the hole was not only drier than I expected, but the rains over the last few months had solidified the soil into a really hard to work clay, in addition to being mined by a colony of fire ants. So anyways, I'm gonna have to dig a new hole, which isnt too bad, since this first major one didnt take me too long. I don't know how much time I'll have left before it gets too cold to comfortably sink, so idk if its worth it... thoughts? I'm in the Atlanta area btw..

Try using a tarp to keep out those ants. I once stepped thigh deep into some river mud, only look down and see ants crawling up my leg >:(

lol ouch, that had to have hurt. But no, the ants were actually on the way back from the mud pit, when i stepped on a rotten log in sandals. im gonna have to clear out a trail of sorts (concealed) to my pit
