The movie was "Sparrows" and it's a pretty well known scene with in the community. Mary Pickford is running around this orphanage with a bunch of kids in the middle of a swamp. It's 1926 so it's silent but was regarded as very intense for it's day. I recall an initial scene with a doll, a humorous scene with a bad guy getting pulled out by a mule, and the children's escape across the swamp on a rickety bridge of floating junk in the quicksand before the bad guy buys it at the end. While it looks incredibly authentic the whole thing was shot at Pickfair, the Hollywood mansion of Mary Pickford and Douglas Fairbanks. The set designer took a relatively small space and landscaped the crap out of it before he added some alligators to make it look real. Shows what you can do with a big enough budget and some creativity. 8-)
It's a dirty job but I got to do it for over 20 years. Thank you.

Mary Pickford was awesome.
There’s so many different worlds
So many different suns
And we have just one world
But we live in different ones
