Falling, and I mean FALLING into Quicksand. Anyone Else?

Frequently I'll take a special fascination with something about our interest here. I'll toss in around in my head for a while with great enthusiasm until it gets replaced with something else and then eventually that particular thing will return again. One such interest that keeps coming back to me is seeing a lady plunge from a substantial height into the bog below. Kind of the like the scene from
Beastmaster or some of the story descriptions we've had over the years. Sometimes it seems right that she plunges to her waist, sometimes to the neck, she might sink completely under and then pop back up or not at all. Anyone else ever go places like that in your head? What's that all about?

Never really thought of it from that aspect though I have seen similar scenes in which you describe.
Wonder how this could be filmed in the quicksand community ? Like diving off a set of rocks in the area.
Or having a slide set up and the gal(s) actually slide into the quicksand. Though actually taking a slide to a location can be rather cumbersome I can understand esecially with the regular equipment and all.

From my perspective, "How to do it" depends on how high is a substantial height. If you mean something on the order of, say, 10 feet, then you definitely talking bluescreen or, at the least, a fast cut from start of fall to landing. You start with the actress at the take-off point. The camera looks upward to suggest she is high up. Then you change camera angle or at least zoom in to a shot from about the waist up. She falls and the camera does NOT pan downward, so that she drops out of frame. Next the camera is set up looking at the landing point, with the actress positioned above and out of frame. She steps off and lands in the pit. If necessary, a blue screen setup might be used beghind the actual pit to place a cliff, or whatever, in the scene. This substantially what we did with our scene about why caves girls stopped sleeping in trees, except there was no blue screen used in that.
Doing a plunge to completely under is possible and does not require that the actress actually take off from more than a few inches above the actual surface, if the mud is of the right consistency. However, bear in mind that going under and not coming up pretty effectively ends the scene.

I guess the question is what is your subject about. I understand the idea and I have thought about it myself. How to capture this in a scene or using it to actually get the deeper then usual just jumping in. Fred has some good ideas there if you were trying to capture that on film and meant to imply a fall that can't be done for real.
However maybe you were actually wondering about a way to have the models jump in higher then usual and not thinning the pit too much. I would certainly like to try this idea, mainly without putting the models in no danger at all. Which is the tricky part depending on how you do it and what height. 10 feet would probably be too high unless the mud was really thick and you knew the depth.

I've thought about a scenario where a gal drops or hops down onto quicksand or mud feet first, both intentionally or unintentionally. I tend to prefer intentional, as in she means to hop down from a high spot down to the ground versus taking the time to find a gradual, though slower, time-consuming route to where she wants to be.
For example, our young damsel is on a boat dock that projects out into a lake or river or perhaps an elevated boardwalk crossing a marsh, and, for whatever reason, she wants to get down off the dock or boardwalk, and onto the muddy ground below. Since the height is not so great, she chooses to simply hop down onto the mud below and finds, to her surprise, that she plunges into the mud to a certain depth.
For me, I like the scenario where either the mud is thick enough, and/or the distance down to the mud is short enough, so that her momentum drives her legs to about calf, knee, or thigh deep. The idea here is the impact forces all of the air out from around her legs and she's locked in, stuck fast in the vacuum or suction formed around her legs by the goo. And, of course, in her attempts to free her mired legs, she sinks and slowly works her way in deeper into the ooze.

Allow me to clarify things - I'm not really concerned with shooting such a scene. I'm just wondering if anyone else shares an interest in it. Possibly it is the extra peril of the fall from a cliff, a tree branch, a vine, with the knowledge of what waits below. Anybody? Anything to add to that?

Yes, and with various substances. Many of my stories, written and otherwise, feature the epic "plop": quicksand, mud, honey, cheese, marshmallow fluff, grease, etc. It's hard to put a finger on where it comes from, given how wide my scope of interest is, but I have noticed similar threads in some of the "plant" vore stuff out there.
*shrug*
We're just weird folks.

I have a tremendous interest in such scenes, whether it be from a great height with a sudden disappearance, or a not-so-great-height (and similar result). Speed - from lightning fast to a relentless sink - is one of the variables that can make scenes unique, exciting, and, indeed, add an element of surprise/shock. I'd be very interested in seeing this incorporated into quicksand/deep sinking imagery.
That being said, I believe the "shock" element could be one reason. Just when we expect quicksand to behave in one manner, it surprises us yet again. It makes our favorite substance exotic again, and utterly unpredictable.

I always thought about a Beastmaster like sink with a female version lol; where she falls quickly up to her ribcage as she leans back and tries to balance herself, only to look down at her breasts being consumed slowly by the ground cork/Vermiculite soil :3

I like it!

Makes the sink seem more perilous... more like the nature's death trap thing of jungle adventure.
