Wow ,,, The mud at that spot looks awsome !!

I just recently played in a spot I havent been too in a couple years ,, Its a small area where the water backs up during high tide ,, it is a whole area of tidal quicksand , the first time I sunk into it I went to my knees but it took me about 20 minutes to get back out ,, I just went in a bit farther this time and it was incredible ..

I would like to find an area more like the mud you found ,, the quicksand is ok but after a while it gets very solid around you and can take a while to get yourself free !!

Congrats! It is an awesome thing to find a good spot, and that one looks prime.

I've been cultivating my place for years, and it is nearly perfect. Problem this year is because we had a wet spring, the deerflies are unbearable! Twice I went there about a month apart, and twice I've been chased away. They are showing signs of thinning to tolerable levels, but man... This despite using industrial strength bug repellent. I never had to deal with this problem at that location before. At least not this bad. Ugh.... Well... maybe August...

Well, I got back to both my spots this morning. There's been enough rain to raise the water level so even though I was hip deep in mud the water was almost up to my chest. I tried to settle in at least waist deep at both spots but it took too long. I still need to find a more private area so I can take all the time I want, otherwise I'll have to consider going after dark.

If your sinking spots are so thick that it requires a bit of effort to sink deep, then while they are underwater, you can take advantage of that by mixing the water down into the mud, using your hands, arms, legs and feet to pull up the mud and mush it up in the water (I find rubbing it between your hands works nicely to dissolve the globs), until you have a nice deep hole loosened. As the water level drops over time, you can continue to work it even deeper, until finally, it is exposed, and you have a wonderfully nurtured patch(es) of soft, deep quagmire to sink into and enjoy!
