Just an observation...
My wife Lisa and I were browsing the forum recently, and while checking out some of the recent pics from Dave & Duncan, Lisa remarked with a wry smile that quicksand is more like "fuck me sand" around here...and I have to agree, that's pretty accurate!

Interesting...
Of course, a sign saying "Danger! Fuck Me Sand!" doesn't have the same ring of menace as quicksand... but it would be useful advertising...

"Danger! Aphrodisiac!"
Somehow I don't think that would deter people.

Re: Just an observation...
I guess you don't have to worry about me going down the "Fuck Me Sand" road since I do not do nudity.
I do "sensual" and "fun" and even "erotic", where it is meant to be arousing and not scary, but if I am on-camera, it all must stop at a certain point. And I don't see myself as being willing to cross that line in the foreseeable future.
It is true that I have a mental division between "camera time" and "off-camera time". What I do when the camera is off is not shared.
I would not mind filming "fuck me sand" done by somebody else. In fact, I have filmed it (for MPV). I just don't feel comfortable performing it myself. Should I, someday, hire a performer who is willing to do a "Fuck Me Sand!" scene...I'll film it.
However, Mestiza is the only performer I had this year. She keeps her clothing on.
I will make an observation as a practicing fetishist: I do find that it is getting harder and harder for me to manufacture a backstory in my own mind when I sink, and it is getting more and more difficult for me to believe in it in scenes that I watch. The sheer quantity of mud that I've been in, both for the camera and without the camera, has given me a familiarity with my sites that makes them feel like home.
I have done dramatic scenes this year -- quite a few of them -- featuring the suck-you-under struggle, but they are mostly shorn of complex storyline. Part of the reason is because it's just too hard to do it alone. Without a camera person, I cannot film my own entry into the general area at all, so I simply start disembodied quicksand scenes directly at the edge of the mudpit. (But I did film Mestiza going in. Wow. Luxury!)
The other half of the reason is that by now, in my head, I no longer feel a need to justify why me, or anyone, is in quicksand -- they just are.

There's nothing at all wrong with keeping the private parts private, except to the special person (or people, depending on your lifestyle) in your life.

My favourite sinking scenes are those where the actress is just being "natural". No "backstory", no contrived reason for being in the mud. Just a special time of playing and enjoyment of the beauty of nature. That doesn't mean I don't like a good dramatic sink or a nice erotic sink. But, like anything else with me, I have to feel like the actress is truly enjoying what she is doing in order for me to get into the scene.
That's why your scenes usually win the trifecta with me! They are, for the most part, believable. The actress is beautiful. And they make me wish that I could have been in that mud.

I definitely enjoy watching dramatic/peril sinks but I'm like you in that way -- I don't want, for one single minute, to think that the actress who performed the role is really frightened or uncomfortable in any way.
At Poison Sumac Bog, I nearly always choose to go under in every scene I shoot there rather than perform a self-rescue. That is mostly because it is a very good natural mudpit, easy to navigate, so...I do it that way because I CAN.
So lately I've been including in at least some of my clips a bit of after-sinking messy mudplay or goofing-around of some kind to gently remind the audience that it is only a fetish -- it is not a tragedy.

Thank you -- when performing drama, I do try to make them believable!
Glad you like the mudpits. If I had to pick the one thing I've managed to improve upon the most, it would be the quality of my locations. I didn't start out with my own mud. I used Fred's. (And it was of course perfect.) I found my first good play spot in 2006, and I remember trying to make do with a $100 low-res camera in floating duckweed and peat islands after a rainstorm...suddenly, all my nice mud, while still there, was under six inches of (blankety-blank unprintable words) water.

Well, it was your first good play spot that you published to the community! I still remember writing to you, maybe 9 or 10 years ago, and you saying that you'd probably never be comfortable with having pictures or video of yourself in mud put out there for all the world to see! And I remember when "Nessie" was finally unmasked! No more hiding behind the camera, or showing just the wonderful fakes you created! Now we have the real thing.
And poor Barbie is now forever longing for mud!

What you just said here goes neatly back onto the topic of "Fuck Me Sand!"
You see...even if I do not specifically perform the "Fuck Me Sand!" kind of scene, as in, I myself don't get naked, and I keep all my erotic behavior subdued...I still KNOW...better than anyone from outside this community ever will...
That in the minds of those like me, even the most innocent quicksand will still be "Fuck Me Sand!".
Not to say that there are no "platonic quicksand" fans out there, since there are. The interest in this substance runs the gamut. I'm sure we have completely non-erotic fans of quicksand scenes in the same way that others might madly collect every documentary about that poor Titanic ship that sank.
They may also be adrenaline fans, and damsel-in-distress fans, or fans who find the quicksand storyline to be a nice buildup to a sex fantasy.
But me? I have no real concept of platonic quicksand.
That was a pretty big obstacle for a long time.

Gotta admit, for the Barbie doll photoshoots I only needed 11-1/2 inches of mud (the height of the doll herself) in which to submerge her. Those certainly were easy photoshoots compared to using real people!
