Quicksand Fans

New TV series. Peolple go into the prehistoric past to encounter dinosaurs, jungles, etc. Will anyone encounter swamps? Quicksand? Tarpits? One can only hope !!

Don't hold out much hope for this series. It sounds like a mash-up of Jurassic Park with Swiss Family Robinson, while the basic idea of escaping a doomed world by going into the past was done in Star Trek 'All Our Yesterdays'.

Don't hope too much for that last one. Many shows these days like to be more technically correct, and technically, tar pits came LONG AFTER dinosaurs. That's why they've never found anything anywhere near as old as a dino in such a pit.

I'm pretty sure that tar pits existed at the same time as the dinosaurs, since tar pits are just oil seepages from deposits near the surface. Since most of the petroleum in the ground predates the dinosaurs by tens to hundreds of millions of years, and that it was not as deep underground during the age of the dinosaurs as it is now, it's logical to assume that there were surface seeps back then, as well. Just because we haven't found it doesn't mean it didn't exist. In fact, we've likely only found a fraction of the different species that existed during the Mesozoic Era.

But yeah, I'm not holding my breath on any quicksand (or tar pit) prospects in this show.
