Hockomock Swamp: Anyone ever been?

Hello, everyone. Been lurking here for a while and thought I'd use my first post to share this with you.

I recently saw a Halloween themed news report about the Bridgewater Triangle, located in the north end of Southeastern Massachusetts, the location of supposed "paranormal activity" like UFO and bigfoot sightings and such. Within that region is a place called the Hockomock swamp, which is the second largest wetland in the state, and from what I've heard the place is supposed to be chock full of quicksand.

I've only heard stories about it though, no video evidence. Might be worth checking out if no one else here has visited that area.

Never been there but I came pretty close. Back in the late 60s (yep, Fred is THAT old) I had a job as a counselor in a YMCA camp on a pond called Ponkapoag Pond, which is about 12 or 15 miles due north. At the time, at one end of the pond there was an extensive marsh that had a boardwalk extending straight out into the marsh. The boardwalk deteriorated the further out one went. I suspect the terrain was pretty much identical to that currently found in the Hockomock.

Prior to posting this I looked up the camp, called Camp Dorchester, and it appears to be there still.

Have been to Ponkapoag. There's another place called Houghton's Pond where there is a public swimming area , BUT there is a roped-off area where it's said there's a qs bottom. Many drownings have occured there. The Hockomock? Yeah--it's spooky. But what self-respecting swamp DOESN'T have QS?
