I miss the website too.. I see from the old "Wayback" copies, the page opened in 1996... it was like a welcome beacon to me.

When I was a kid, lots of my friends were kind of interested in quicksand. We would pretend to sink in it all the time when we played whatever made-up games we played. But this kind of play naturally tapered off as I came of age, and I was left alone with what was turning into more of an adult interest. Kaol's page was a real affirmation of a greater, more widespread interest in quicksand, even among adults. That's why I won't ever get tired of its garish early-web design and the loud WAV file that played when it loaded.

It is hallowed ground in quicksand fans history!! Also Kaol hosted my early artwork and the one single story I ever wrote (Frustration). It was so cool having an outlet for my creativity. Fun fact, you can find that story in the "stories" section of the old site snapshot posted by Boggy Man.

Ah yes, I visited his page quite a lot when I went searching for quicksand related stuff.

There was one Japanese site that was linked on his links page. It had pictures of a female agent wearing a miniskirt suit, pantyhose, and sunglasses; I think her hair was tied in a bun. And there were a few pics of her sinking into some light colored quicksand. There was also a villain in a pic or 2 and he was holding a flashlight or something. Unfortunately I didn't save those pics. If anyone is familiar with those images, I'd like to see them again if ya have'em!

I remember those! It was plastic quicksand or something... a very cool photo shoot. I too lost the damned things years ago, and never found them again... alas...

I also remember a site called Duct Tape and Quicksand, where there were four really awesome artworks of ladies in qs... one was the title page of a jungle girl sinking... then there was a glamour girl up to her chest, another blonde girl reaching out towards the shore (Stormwind used it as a title page on his website ages back...) and a third up to her chin, and waving with outstretched arm... No idea what happened to the fellow who did the art, but I loved his work. Love to see the art posted again, too... with permission of its creator, that is...

Kaol's Ol' Sinkin' Hole was the third Quicksand Website I came upon one Saturday morning (as in 2:00 AM) back in January 2000.

I was ready to go to bed and remembered that I wanted to do a search on quicksand on the Internet. First to catch my attention was The Quicksand Page. I was floored! Following the links from that page, I next found Stormwind's old site and first discovered the artwork of QSA! Then I came upon Kaol's Ol' Sinkin' Hole! WOW! The first thing to hit ya was Alice screaming, "Help me, I'm in Quicksand!" Then came, "Red Rubber Ball."

Kaol's site was my favorite to visit as it had so much material to go through, and each page greeted you with music. Kaol's site introduced Quicksand Artwork and Photographs by Regansi (aka, Northerner), Wayne Coulter, Nessie, Bill, Taral Wayne, Demanding Urge, Jumpoff Joe, as well as Kaol's own artwork. And, the stories! Wow! And, even Quicksand Videos with real women sinking in real quicksand and mud!

Kaol's old site was SO cool and was a pleasure to visit! I do miss it.

Kaol's site was the first quicksand website I ever found. I was astonished. I thought, "You mean I'm not the only one who wants to see beautiful women struggling in quicksand??" I was floored. I had thought I was weird. Kaol's site made me realize I was anything but alone.

I purchased his "Missing Person" video with Rowena. It still has one of the best sinks I've ever seen.

I really enjoyed Kaol's groups in Yahoo! It was through these groups, particularly Perilmania, that I began to really use my creativity to create artwork. I was particularly inspired by Acid Tester's work. I was and still am in awe of his abilities with a colored pencil.

Kaol, you inspired me to do things I wouldn't have done otherwise. Thanks, old friend!

anyone have the stories about a "Sylla" being "raised" by a snake on an alien planet her parents were dropped onto after being discovered stowaway on a ship? Sylla keeps stepping in quicksand and having to be rescued... once by her "mother's" mate who decides, since Sylla was as good as dead, it was only fair for her to instead become a nice meal?!
