Is this place appreciably quieter than it used to be?

I don't have any actual usage statistics but my impression is that yes it has been quieter than usual for the last few weeks. That could be just random variation, attntion being diverted elsewhere, or who knows what.
Of course, forum activity is whatever the collective membership makes it. If we are a community then we all have a responsibility to do our part. We can each contribute to growing the community or we can ignore it and risk that no one picks up the slack.

There is no question that posting has decreased....I don't think it's coincidental. I think the whole QS scene may be getting a little stale, or say, "hitting the wall" in terms of variety. Sort of like the Honeymoon is over, and now you're settling in and things become more and more just "another day." It's inevitable and happens to everyone no matter what it is. That's when you know it's time to mix things up and bit.
Part of the problem is that between all of the producers, it seems like every possible type of scene a human could image has now been done. It's almost like overload. Anyone else feel like that? Like there's almost TOO much? Once that happens, it starts to become sometimes more like, "oh a scene like this again" and pretty predictable sometimes.
one major recurring complaint is people have stated displeasure with the slow sink, "face up to the sky" and submerge style scene, which comprises a lot of them (for distress situations). Let's face it, it's pretty unrealistic. A lot of people seem to perfer Moonstone style sinks, or something "faster". Now I credit the producers for all of their innovation and hard work, but they've got to give this thing a shot in the arm in terms of variety. At least consider short fast sink scenes--that would be something new. Would it be so bad to have a 30 second scene? Why do they always have to be 10 minutes? perhaps consider more scenes that follow a storyline; why not even a full hour or two "movie?" Or more dramatic props. Bikes? Vehicles even? Perhaps a scene with say, 7 or 8 subjects all stuck at once dookin' it out? (Yes I know there was the 4 cheerleaders scene). But I mean it's the gusto people want.
I think people are looking for something really new, something innovative, raising the bar, whatever you want to call it. People must be losing at least some interest. That's the only logical reason why posts have been down and have been going down now for I'd say at least a few months. I cant think of any other reason wy. Someone(s) must be becoming increasingly dissatisfied with something, enough to make them not post, or comment, or want to contribute.
Like I said I applaud all of the efforts of the producers. They do a great job and offer a lot of good products. They don't have to do this, so we should appreciate them. But if there's specific things people are upset about which are causing them to sorta ditch the hobby, perhaps some of them could voice their concerns, and help out.

Are we talking about video producers or the forum in general?

The original post, and my response, were clearly about forum traffic, not video products.

Eventually no matter how great you think something is you run out of new things to say about it. That's why forums have an off topic section.
Most of the really active people on other forums I belong to (including myself) spend the majority of the time bullshitting about things that have nothing to do with our main interest lol......if you want to belong to a message board continue to have one track minds. If you want to have a community try not being boring and talking about something else for a change.

I know exactly what's taking my attention off quicksand -- my new day job.
It started in January.
I like having extra money at last. But it leaves me much less time to contemplate the wonders of the bottomless bog.
I estimate the loss to be around 23 hours a week.

It's definitely quieter and I can point to a few reasons but there are likely many. If nothing else I know I don't make any noise here any longer. Nessie has been reduced. I know that Dave's personal situation is keeping him preoccupied (but I think that will ultimately result in good things for us) so at very least there are fewer things that we used to chat about here. Certainly less in the way of producer noise anyway.
I have noticed a lot of neat things in other sections like comic postings and manipulations that should get more notice than they receive. I'm as guilty as anyone but I tend to sound smarter when I'm quiet anyway. I don't know if this is permanent or just a pause that has happened before over the years. We got cheated on a late spring this year and summer is coming. Stay tuned and let's hope things improve.

My guess is that it is early in the season, and once things finally warm up, things will liven up here with discussions about where to find sinking spots, peoples' experiences, advice, new videos being shot, etc.
