First Sink Of The Season!!!!

Postby Mynock » Sat May 11, 2013 7:59 pm

Got a before pic, was going to get an after but by the time my hands were clean enough to risk touching my phone it was too dark. It's still been a little cold around here but hypothermia be damned, I jumped in anyway. 8-)

Damn you're lucky.

I've found many a peat bog (being in Newfoundland) and not one of them has been more then waist deep, even right in the middle of em, no luck at all, and no quarrys around here as far as I can know.

Is all that "beach" area sinkable or only the wet looking parts near the water?

Ahh, quarries like this look so dreamy :(

The whole beach looking area is sinkable, the wetter parts near the water are a little more clay like while the lighter tan areas have the consistancy of beach sand. It varies in consistency every time I go, this time it was more like real quicksand, when I jumped off the bank I only went in up to my knees and then slowly sank to waist depth. Sometimes it will be watery and you can jump in and go under entirely but you pop back up pretty quick lol. Also helps if you have a friend who likes pushing you down.

Cool spot. I know the quarry near me its too hard to submerge, but the stuff holds onto you pretty good.
