Survey: "It's Quicksand!"

It's the definitive factor in our QS interest, regardless of the scenario. It could be a jungle explorer stumbling into an empty clearing; a jogger running along the beach; a camper taking a shortcut through the forest; or it could be the moving .gif on Kaol's Ol' Sinkin' Hole. At some point, those words will echo through your head. There's something about being aware of the danger you're in. Perhaps it's knowing that gives you the thrill of being able to escape, or seeing how close the victim gets to being sucked under before she manages to get free, or fail to do so. On the other hand, there's the panic that comes in when the Q-word comes out. Consciousness can be a curse, as the saying goes.

So here's this week's survey:
At what point does our damsel realise she's in distress?

If I could vote multiple times, I'd go with shoulder/neck deep as well. I have an affinity for stories where she does it because it's her fetish, hence before she even gets in, or stories where she's hopelessly stuck in a deathtrap.

I voted for knee deep BUT I have always been fascinated with the idea of a victim of hypnosis or sleepwalking or other distraction sinking from sight without knowing she is even sinking.

Seems to me that in most films damsels in quicksand know, or suspect that they are in it. It's when they are up to their waist is when they start to freak out. When they are submerged and immobile is when they realize they can't escape and start to call for help. The girl in 'Quicksand At Dead Man's Creek' is one example. A woman waist deep in quicksand is one of my best scenes; they are helpless and sensual all at the same time!

For me it's after she gets stuck, perhaps shin to calf-deep, and struggles and strains to lift and pull her legs out until she finds herself stuck thigh-deep in the mire and slowly sinking. This, to me, is a good time for her to realize that she's stuck in quicksand. It's also a very sexy depth for her to be sunk and stuck at when she realizes she's in quicksand as she follows up this realization with even more intense struggling to try and break free of the suction and tenacity that hold her thighs fast and tight.
