Quicksand Fans

Following on from a comment in last week's poll, we go into a favoured scenario:

A spy girl/secret agent has been captured by Evil Bad Guy With Goatee. With all the possible deathtraps at his disposable (including some rather impractical ones, and may or may not include sharks with lasers), the rather obvious choice is death by quicksand. Whether or not the damsel escapes is beside the point, but the creative question is: in what way does he dispose of her?

I've always liked the idea of the damsel attempting to escape the bad guy, only to stumble into quicksand. That she's escaped one danger, the thrill of the chase, and then she falls into another danger is a scenario I find exciting.

I will say I can see a humorous scenario for the bad guy tossing the damsel into the quicksand. She begs him not to throw her in, so, of course, that's just what he does. We then learn she's a sinker and knows how to deal with and get out of quicksand. She makes her escape on the other side of the pit, leaving the baddie astonished by what he's just seen.

It would be like Br'er Rabbit begging, "Don't throw me in the briar patch!"

She is lowered/thrown/pushed holds an attraction to me lately. I guess the point is that she is forced in against her will. Sort of a struggle even before the struggle. Struggle squared?

I saw a movie clip of a Russian mob boss having a screaming, naked, hottie, lowered from a crane into a vat of acid once. Sick as it was it really lit something for me that I always wanted to see done. Studio 588 and DIDVP have played around near the edges of this but nobody has REALLY done it yet. That would be a goal for one of he producers that ranks right up there with any other in my book.

True. Building an overhead support capable of supporting an actress is more than I can manage without assistance.

I think "The Man Show" gave it a shot. Need a midget with bigger feet and an anvil in his pocket. Unless we want to settle for Barbie dolls.

When I think of damsels hanging by a rope over quicksand, Fred588's "Blowgun" series tends to come to mind.

I've always been a fan of the gal escaping captivity, thinking she's home free, yet gets stuck in quicksand and is again in peril. Then it becomes a situation of whether she tries to get free on her own (which she has failed miserably at) or does she call for help hoping the bad guy doesn't find her... or, perhaps, that he does.

I'm actually somewhat surprised at the results. I expected more people to be more fond of the thrown in or lowered in scenarios!
