Chat system using cell phones and similar

I have seen quite a few people come into the chat room but never say anything. Sometimes I have seen certain members do this multiple times. Based on the possibility that this is due to attempting to access the chat from a device that can handle the html but not the javascript, I would like to propose the following as a test.
Any time you see me listed as in the chat room, contact me using yahoo messenger. I am Fred588 there and very often have both that and the chat open. In the initial message just say you want to do a chat test. Once I reply and you reply back to me, this will establish one channel of commuication. Then enter the chat room and try to speak. I will rely directly but also through YM. If it is then demonstrated that the chat works or does not work with a particular phone then that info can be tabulated and made available to others who might have either the same system or a solution.
