What is so special about Chester IL. I here there is a lot of deep mud. Just wondering, because I live 30 minutes away.

Chester is a convenient place with easy access to the Mississippi, a broad "beach" when the water is low, the Mary's river running through the sandbars, and coal slurry ponds nearby. Chester's best feature, the thing that made it so great, was Chuck Lang. After Chuck died we lost our eyes on the ground, our guide, comic relief, caretaker, local color, security guard, number two camera operator, and the list goes on and on. Our last two visits there yielded nothing. Honestly, now its pretty much just a spot on the map with a lot of great memories. 8-)
It's a dirty job but I got to do it for 27 years. Thank you.
