Thanks for the link. It's interesting that Paul Shaffer's crew could get so close to the studio version. Even the tone on the guitar.
The only drawback was how shrill/reedy the sax sounded. In any case, is was super 80's, and a nice trip down memory lane.
In my mind, David Sanborn and Grover Washington Jr. paved the way for a lot of current 'contemporary jazz' Saxophonists. I don't know if you have ever heard any Mindy Abair material. She's got good tone, and a knack for capturing the classic 'hi-fi' sound in her mixes. Dave Koz is good as well.

If I want to know who they are or get more detailed info about them, I just Google their names.

It was a really interesting documentary. Watched the entire thing when it came out. Great demonstration of how poorly we eat nowadays. Unfortunately it appears he was also an alcoholic and that's what caught up with him.
It's a dirty job but I got to do it for over 20 years. Thank you.

For anyone who is a basketball fan, Jerry West, 86 - one of the greatest. I still remember watching his 3/4-court shot at the buzzer to tie a playoff game with the Knicks in 1970 (today, it would have been a 3-pointer and would have won the game; Lakers lost in overtime). I was never a Lakers fan, but you didn’t have to be - he was a good guy and a great player.

Yea, I moved to LA in '86, and was already a Lakers fan, having gone to MSU (Magic Johnson).
Some of the larger than life characters with the Lakers were Jerry Buss and Jerry West. It was a great time to be a Lakers fan, right at the peak of Showtime.
One thing I'll never forget was how Jerry West would talk about getting so wound up during the playoffs, and the finals in particular, that he would drive around town during the games, listening on the radio (Chick Hearn was huge too). He couldn't be in The Forum or at away stadiums (The Forum didn't have boxes anyways). I was really taken back at how human he was, even after having been such a monster on the court.
The New York Times had a well balanced article on him yesterday. I didn't realize the frustrations he had trying to win a championship against Bill Russell and the Celtics. Anyways, a real interesting guy, for sure.
