Hopefully it's the original thing and not the John Carpenter version. That one gave me some baad nightmares when I was a kid.
It'll be interesting to see what they find. The bottom of that lake had been pretty much cut off from the rest of the planet for God only knows how long. Definitely a chance there's some freaking critters lurking down there. 8-)

Forty below, eh? Now I feel positively warm. I don't know what'll be down there (if anything is) but whatever it is, but if we put one in a zoo, it's gonna be one chilly experience just walking into the room to visit it.

That transformation critter was definitely not cute. I hope whatever's down there is better-looking than that.

"At the Mountains of Madness" wasn't that scary. I'd be more worried if they were doing an archaeological dig under some spooky old house in Providence or Plymouth.

But, yeah, doesn't this sound like the first 5 minutes of any 1950s sci-fi horror movie?
