Oh, no.... Sarah' Jane Smith is gone?

She was a fav of the Doc's companions... no question. My sympathies to her family and friends. And her many fans.

Sad news.

Where Tom Baker was my favorite Doctor, Elisabeth Sladen was my favorite of his companions. Both she and Baker were my introductions to the Doctor Who experience. I recall watching the last episode she starred in before she left the series. Reading the media accounts about her tonight, I didn't realize she reprised her role as Sarah Jane Smith so many times after that last episode.

Elisabeth, you will be missed. Best wishes to you as you begin yet another new adventure, and best wishes to your family and friends.

Oh wow. I had no idea that she had cancer.

Guess that means there won't be another series of the Sarah Jane Adventures. (Yep, I watched the silly children's spin-off of Doctor Who. And yep I enjoyed it.)

Sarah Jane was my favorite of the Doctor's companions. Judging from how popular the character remains, I must not be the only one who felt that way. I didn't realize Elisabeth Sladen was so young when she first played the character. She has the distinction of playing a character that has meant a lot to many people over a long period of time. That's quite an accomplishment for any performer.
