For Fantasy RPGers...
Tarpet! It's a magical trap in the form of a rug or carpet with two effects: 1) it acts as a tarlike pit in such a way that any who step onto it and without first whispering the correct phrase will begin sinking into the carpet as soon as they lift their other foot from the ground, (using any available rules from whatever game being played, if available, for sinking into tar) and 2) any who sink from sight into the carpet are lost, with nothing short of a wish able to restore them to this plane.

Re: For Fantasy RPGers...
Cool! Next time I GM a fantasy RPG, I am SO stealing that!
I have come up with a bunch of cool things over the years. One of my favorites is the Wild Bore. He's a big, shaggy "mountain man" type who tells the most boring stories ever. If you miss your save vs. magic, you fall asleep, and then start taking one point of damage per turn. (yes, you are being bored to death.)
The Fireball Arrow is a one-shot magical weapon, usable by any character class that can use a bow. It has a glowing red crystal for an arrowhead, and when it strikes a target it acts like a Fireball spell. You store it in a sheepskin-lined hard leather case- and don't take falling damage. . .
And then there are "Gold Bugs." They look just like gold coins. But underneath they have six legs and a nasty set of mandibles. They don't do much damage individually, but a treasure chest full of the little guys swarming your party can be painful. And of course when trying to stab one that's biting you, you have a chance of hurting yourself.
