Re: Nuclear powered aircraft?
There was a flirtation with a nuclear-powered cruise missile in the 60s, but when they managed to convince the wonks who thought it up after much testing, that having this thing fly around at supersonic speeds, irradiating everything under it while on alert, was a 'bad idea'

Look up Project Pluto for a concept so evil, even I wouldn't endorse it (and that's saying something given that I am an NTR fan, a pserson who responds to critiicisms of nuclear pulse by hitting them in the face, and someone who'd like to see ORION fly just to piss off the people I'd like to shoot just for the way they behaved at the Casssini-Huygens launch; "They can protest all they want; in fact, Michio Kaku and his fuck-witted flatlander rabble can go and stand under the main engines for all I care."
Just saying
Just saying
"Isaac Asimov has an asinine motto- 'Violence is the last refuge of the incompetent.' I agree with it completely- If it's read correctly. That is, only the incompetent wait until it's the last resort."

Bravo on that one.
It's a dirty job but I got to do it for 27 years. Thank you.
