i remember seein a clip like this in drivers ed (cali) of actual car crash scenes. It was some pretty grim stuff. I'll be honest, i txt (sometimes) in the car, but majority of the time (+90%) I'm at a red light. Im not excusing what i do, tho. Definitely not after watching that.

I don't own a cell phone, and I wouldn't know how to send a text message. I do know that trying to type a letter or an e-mail while driving is a very dumb and dangerous idea. Yet, this is precisely what you're doing when you try to send a text message while driving. Driving is an activity that requires 100 percent of your attention. You may recall that commuter train accident in Los Angeles a while back. The train's engineer was sending text messages and missed two signals telling him to stop.

Text messaging is a convenience, but it must be used wisely. 'Smart' technology won't do anyone any good in the hands of stupid people.

Our Driver's Ed film was called "Flesh, metal and glass." 'nuff said.

As to either phoning or texting while driving, the best solution to that should be putting a modified seeker head from an AGM-88 HARM anti-radar missile on an AGM-65 Maverick antitank missile. Okay, maybe that's a bit of overkill, but big explosions are more satisfying than just shooting up the offender's car with a 25mm M242 Bushmaster chain gun.
