The question, inconveniently... now has been asked at least 3 times in last 5 minutes, is pretty simple: If the French can hit in one night, valid , important targets, after months and supposed 7000 ''allied'' strikes that are untouched.... beggars the question. Why the fuck is THAT??

...or they just blew up a bunch of desert. Based on the specifics I've seen thus far they didn't do any more than the U.S. does in a routine day. Beyond "showing resolve" and degrading ISIS logistics it doesn't do anything to move the bad guys off the field. The longer this goes on the more of this sort of thing we can all expect to put up with. Until professional Western soldiers begin to push ISIS into a very small corner of their "state" this will be little more than swatting worrisome gnats. None of that is going to happen until the United States takes the lead and I'm afraid that isn't going to happen until ISIS attacks the White House or the Superbowl. It could be that they will continue to pick on France or other awkward allies because they are aware that the great mistake is scaring the Americans.

If the plan is "do nothing until January 2017" a great deal of this makes sense. Having ROE so restrictive that you have to sift through 3 layers of command before weapons release does not say to me "kill the enemy" The very nature of CAS requires instant action. Anything else is contrived BS
