Gonna miss Davy a whole lot - one of my first celebrity crushes, even though I started watching The Monkees when it was already 20 years old! Thank goodness I got to see him in concert once - RIP Davy

Like Duncan, I was a Mike fan; however, to me Davy always seemed to be the one who had his act together. I, too, enjoy hearing Davy sing Daydream Believer when it comes across the radio.

I really enjoyed watching the Monkees' TV series. I also recalled watching their movie, Head, when it appeared on TV one night long ago. That movie featured some cool musical pieces. If I recall correctly, the movie featured a solo piece with Davy that I really enjoyed. He sang and was joined by a lovely lady who was danced with him. It was cool how throughout the scene the color of the clothing they wore switch from black to white... same style clothing, just black at one time then white the next.

He will be missed.

That was "Daddy's Song." The clip of that part of "Head" alternated between clips of him in a white tux and then a black tux, while the 2 clips were edited into one seemless dance. Great scene!

I had to watch that twice: The first was to listen to the song (good song too) and watch Davy dance, but the second was to pick up everything that happens. All I can think is, somebody must have been in the cutting room for years...and it's perfect!

Head was written by Jack Nicholson and when it came out it was heavily panned. Now it is regarded with cult adoration. That's always been one of my favorite scenes as well.

Wow, I didn't know the gal was Toni Basil of Mickey fame. That makes this scene that much more special!

Gotta admit I'm amazed and surprised how the years have changed how I recall that scene being performed. The scene seemed longer to me years ago when I was a kid, and I thought I remembered Toni as a blonde with snugger-fitting slacks.

Oh, well, it matters not! That's the scene and it's just as much fun now as it was then! Thanks for sharing!

I also experienced The Monkees as part of my childhood. Micky was my favorite.

I remember having my mom help me mail in an offer on the back of a Cheerios box for a '45 of 'I Was the Very First Kid on My Block (with a Broken Heart)'

Come to think of it, that was my very first 'record'.

It really stuck with me, because just a few weeks ago, I sent several people an email with the header "Be the Very First Kid on Your Block...."
