Emphasis on the word scrawny, not girl. Ladies are always welcome. :)

I watched in the slow motion ripple effect that the recoil of the Smith and Wesson 500 going off did to Gunnery Sergeant R. Lee Ermey's arm in his Lock N' Load special on handguns. A .50 caliber in a handgun is certainly quite a cannon.

What she said. :D

Yes, yes, I know what you meant... emphasis on "scrawny" whether you be male or female.

I do recall quite fondly the picture of Kristine Lynn firing the .50 caliber Beowulf rifle... very nice! Thanks again, Duncan, for that image!

Anyway, there's still something sweet about a .45 caliber, especially in the format of the old 1911. I'm not a fan of the 9 mm and consider the .40 caliber a good compromise between the 9 mm and .45 caliber in range, accuracy, and stopping power.

But, a double-barreled pistol? The mechanics and synchronization of the hammers and triggers need to be spot on. Look to be a single slide. Can it be fired one barrel at a time? Seems the gun has two individual triggers.

I still like the idea of having two 1911s versus a double-barreled one. Interesting concept. Interesting thread!

There's a new gun shop in my area that does class III stuff. I was just talking to the guy about getting a suppressed Mac-10.

Mynock, don't you have to jump through all sorts of legal loops for a suppressor, just curious?

Well a suppressor is a NFA item that is regulated by the BATFE. In order to own one you have to fill out a whole bunch of paperwork such as fingerprint cards, mugshot, $200 payment to the ATF and wait 6 months to get approved.

I won't pretend to be completly familiar with the process but I do know they screw you by making you pay for a seperate tax stamp for both the suppressor and the gun.
It's the cost of the gun itself that really makes me think twice. Due to limited availability good one's run about 3-5k. Full auto is nifty but for the same money I could buy a Barrett Rec 7, trick it out with an Aimpoint M-4 weapon sight and other goodies, and still have enough change left over to buy about three or four thousand rounds of M855 to run through it lol....I shot an Uzi once, and yea it was pretty cool, but not THAT cool.

"Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives" should be a convenience store, NOT a government agency. Daggone Federals, stickin'' their noses in where they have no business. . .

A lot of that dates back to the National Firearms Act of 1986, which in my opinion should be repealed in it's entirety and a less restrictive bill drawn up only for destructive devices. One of the reasons most people can't even explore full auto as a hobby is because some dirtbag democrat from NY snuck a clause in there that says any full auto weapon manufactured after 1986 can't be sold to the public. Since there's only a limited number of working firearms available from before that date, the prices have gone sky high. Sabre Defense makes new M-4's at a cost (to them) of roughly $300 per gun. A civialian looking for an M-16 these days would have to pay $10,000-$20,000 for the same pre-1986 manufactured rifle. I'm pretty sure price gouging counts as "infringement".
