prop fun...

I believe that a prop or a joke should never overpower the actual sinking. But as a buildup or reason to get somebody into quicksand, it can work quite well.

A prop that doesn't quite work in drama just doesn't quite work, but a joke that doesn't work during a sinking is disastrous. The hardest thing of all to master is quicksand comedy.

Respectfully, I must disagree with your assertion that the core of what we do is pornography. That someone, or even a majority, find a scene stimulating in a sexual way is not the definition of pornography.

I do agree that using prop just to use a prop is pointless, but using a prop (or punchline, or whatever) as the stimulus for a scene idea that will make use of that prop is perfectly reasonable.

Also, while this board is self-described as serving a fetish community it is very clear that the fetish itself (that it serves) is different for different members. Some want a melodramatic response, some want an erotic one. Some want to see struggle, some want a slow, relaxed sink. Some want submergence, some don't. Some want a playboy-type model, some want something "thicker."

For what its worth, two of the best scenes (in my opinion) that have been produced within this community were both comedies. One was "Quicksand Hunter," starring Nessie. That was written and directed by myself and released by MPV. The other was "Remember When." I have forgotten the actress's name but it was written and directed by Duncan Edwards and released by MPV.

Personally, I believe using props simply for the sake of it is not a good idea. It is corny, forced, and I'll go ahead and say it: lame. I believe the same is true for gimmick/pun/whatever titles or dialogue for scenes as well, which you have brought up in the past if I recall correctly. Writing and filming an entire scene built around a single prop or pun or joke or whathaveyou is kind of really awkward and isn't as funny as you think it will be. This is an adult fetish board. Personally, I say leave the comedy to the pros, the people who do comedy for a living, and likewise, leave the porn to the pros that we have here.

I'm not saying NO FUN ALLOWED EVER. I mean, if what seems to be an opportunity for a natural sounding punchline or joke or something presents itself, that's fine, but then move on and have the scene get back to what it is at its core: pornography. But I don't think it's wise to write or shoot a scene based entirely around that some kind of gimmick like what you're describing. Even your description of the scene you had in mind sounds incredibly contrived, and very awkward to even think about, let alone to watch if it existed.

Also prop comedy is one of the lowest-tier forms of the art for a reason. Carrot Top is not funny by any stretch of the imagination.

I've admitted that some things are corny but if someone can have fun looking into something that's been put forward and devloping the thought I don't mind but like Nessie said "...as a build up or a way to get the person into the quicksand."
