As far as I understand it the slower burn rate of smokeless powder generates longer and higher peak pressure in the gun barrel. That's why you don't use it in antiques, good way to turn them into bombs. Personally I wouldn't have lit that on fire with all the ammo and two can's of explosives sitting there.

Think he mentioned that, as well as how some people like to try messing around with lighter loads of modern powder -- and Just Dont Do That -- if you want to use modern powder and cartridges in something like a SAA Colt .45, get the version that was built for using it. He has one from 1884 which he rarely even fires now even with black powder, for the collectors value, as well as , why risk anything? You have other models to fire.

I've heard of people doing that too and it's just stupid. Nothing like blowing your hand/face off because you didn't want to clean your gun.

Nutnfancy's review of IMI Industries Tavor Rifle. I think I just spent my Christmas bonus. Always wanted a bullpup rifle but had to abstain due to my left handedness this bad boy has an optional left handed bolt!

Another phased plasma rifle in the 40-watt range, eh?
They are all ugly as sin, bullpups, but they do seem to work just fine. You should drop Hickock a line and see if anyone in the area down his way has one for loan to test out

The space-marine look is part of the attraction. Mostly I just think it'd be cool to have something tactical that's actually left handed. Just because I'm used to hot brass smacking me in the forehead and going down my shirt doesn't mean I like it haha.....gotta love the fact that it shoots the same ammo and uses the same mags as my AR so there's no need to out and re-buy all that shit.
As far as testing.....what you get in the states is basically the same rifle that's currently in combat service in 15 countries, just no dog chopper setting on the select lever. Pretty much battlefield proven at this point. I've held bull pups before and liked the feel it was just always the damn right handed eject that was keeping me from shooting one. Nice to know somebody thinks about us lefties.

Re: Dont be this Guy
Left-handed shooting does seem to get short-shrift, thats for sure -- and I'm a rightie
Think Hickok briefly mentions that in his latest vid on Ruger version of the 1911 Commander -- a nice looking piece there. Little longer than normal vid, since he actually just bought it for himself, and gives it a lot of break in, stoppages and all from different types of ammo and mags.

Re: Dont be this Guy
It's not too bad really. With the exception of bull pups and bolt actions you can adapt the gun or yourself pretty easily. For example when I reload the 1911 I hit the mag release with my trigger finger instead of my thumb. The slide catch on autos is the real bitch. Best way I've found to release it is to roll my gun hand to the side about 45 degrees and bring my off hand up over the top of the slide, releasing the catch with my off-hand thumb. After 20 years of practice it's not as awkward as it sounds.

Re: Dont be this Guy
Alternate plan: only use revolvers
But even there, the cylinders all seem to swing out on one side, likewise the loading gate for others

Yup.......single action I can work the gate and ejector slide with my off hand at least.....Double action I completely switch hands to drop the cylinder because the release is on the wrong side.
