I bought a new truck (finally)

I have a dream about a deuce-and-a-half, or a halftrack, and outfitting the back as a cabin for camping. I've got access to undeveloped land up in the mountains here, and go up there to camp several times a year. How cool it would be to pull in, park, and proclaim "Ok, I am all set up now!"

Where the Charger got stuck? Hahaha......Charger weighs about 4,000lbs, zero ground clearance. Deuce weighs about 13,000 empty and if you get one with the bigger 11.00 x 20 tires they have about 14" clear under the axles. That truck would go through that crowd of zombies like a lawn mower through a nest of baby bunnies.

A caterpillar-wheel vehicle, like a bulldozer or a tank. That should haul ass through that horde. If you were to use a common road vehicle like a Dodge Charger, if the vehicle gets stuck in the middle of the horde, you're a goner. They show how big the horde is in the distance for a brief second.

It always cracks me up though, when you see people buy trucks that will never be pushed to anywhere near their capabilities.

Last night I was snickering as I watched a guy in a Hummer H2 (yea, the big one) creeping over speed bumps. Either (A) he was hauling nitro glycerine, or (B) was driving it like he drives his wife's Prius.

I drive an '02 Tahoe (with admittedly over-sized 10 ply tires, which help) and am happy to not slow down for speed bumps. Coffee thermos cups do have lids on them for a purpose. Hehe

We have a different kind of speed bump around here, and that special tires are not much use. These speed bumps each have four legs that they use to move around and pop out into the road at random.

I never want my vehicles to be pushed anywhere near their limits. That's one reason why I got a 3500HD truck. When I first got it, I was also really cautious about speed bumps. And a few weeks after I got it, I gave it a lift of 18 inches and bigger tires, now my truck looks real badass. Speaking of hummers, my next door neighbor has a pimped out bus-sized Hummer H2. It is filled with subwoofers, and other sound equipment. When he uses it it sets off every car alarm in the neighborhood, including those on my car and truck. That is obnoxious, but at the same time I find it hilarious.

I used to have a '95 Silverado 1500 (my first vehile) that I didn't like, as one thing was the shocks were shot. If you go over a speed bump, your coffee will spill all over the seat or your lap. The rear view mirror was hanging from a wire and would bang the windshield at speed bumps. Duct tape only held it in place for a certain amount of time. Of course it had worse problems, as it was just a cheap used piece of shit truck. Engine doesn't start in the morning, as if flooded or out of gas. Sometimes it would die at random, as if out of gas, when there's still half a tank of gas. I am thankful that I don't still have that pile of junk.
I think my old truck was the most obnoxious thing I ever owned, but people tell me that my brand new 3500 Silverado is the most obnoxious thing they have ever seen.
I think a Tahoe, Escalade, Trailblazer, and Suburban are decent SUVs, the competing one was an epic fail: Ford Explorer. Which was a disaster, biggest fail since the Ford Tempo.
