Shelley Duvall, from The Shining and Popeye, died today... She was 75.

“Give me the bat, Wendy . . .” on the stairway in The Shining - great scene. I heard on the news once that director Stanley Kubrick filmed that scene with Shelley and Jack Nicholson over 120 takes in order to get it just right. And they got it right. She was just as good as Nicholson in what was a great horror movie, actually better, I thought, than the Stephen King novel. RIP.

Richard Simmons, famed fitness guru and personality, dies at 76

Eccentric fitness guru Richard Simmons, known for his unrelenting positivity, has died, according to his representative.

Simmons just celebrated his 76th birthday on Friday.

The Los Angeles Police Department responded to his home after a 911 call from his housekeeper and found Simmons dead, according to police sources. He appears to have died of natural causes, and no foul play is suspected, the sources said.

Ruth Westheimer, sex therapist known as ‘Dr. Ruth,’ dead at 96

Dr. Ruth Westheimer, the iconic sex therapist whose cheerful and disarming advice helped educate millions of Americans about sexual desires and practices, has died, her publicist Pierre Lehu told CNN on Saturday. She was 96.

The diminutive, grandmotherly Westheimer was a leading advocate of sexual education for decades, dispensing colorful, witty advice in her distinctive German accent.

“Dr. Ruth” – as she was more commonly known – died while her two children sat alongside at her home Friday around 11:30 p.m., Lehu said.

Shannen Doherty, known for her roles on the wildly popular series “Beverly Hills, 90210” and on the witchcraft fantasy “Charmed,” has died after being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015. She was 53.

“It is with a heavy heart that I confirm the passing of actress Shannen Doherty. On Saturday, July 13, she lost her battle with cancer after many years of fighting the disease,” Doherty’s publicist Leslie Sloane said in a statement to People.
