Re: NHL Playoffs 2016 Thread
16:00 into the 2nd OT on a PP, NY Islanders score to win 2-1 and lead the series over Florida 3-2. They can close things out Sunday at home. A relatively good game, with some bullets dodged - by the zebras. They actually called a penalty shot in the 1st OT. The NY player did close his hand on the puck. But the in crease part, woha. No goal, so they weren't subject to being set afire on the shows later.
Phily scores a 2-0 shutout win over the Caps to stay alive. Neuvirth stood on his head, stopping 44 shots for the Shutout. Not too much idiocy, but this was a road game after all.
The other games? Welll...
LA after being down 3-0 have just scored to come back and tie the game with 3 min TG in the 2nd. And in Dallas, still tied since early in the 2nd 4-4 with each team playing 'make the first mistake', now for about 37 min....

Minnesota scores about 5 min into OT with the win 5-4 to stay alive and play Game 6 Sunday. A better OT than the last 2 periods.
Still tied 3-3 in LA in the 2nd intermission

Well that's that
LA after threatening, folds like a cheap suitcase in the 3rd, with San Jose going on to a 6-3 wind. They advance to the 2nd round winning the series 4-1

You don't tug on Superman's Cape
That's the conventional wisdom in sports for individuals, or even Teams. ESPECIALLY in hockey , which is the ne plus ultra of any team sport
After trading a pair of goals in the first, 14 minutes of pure talent and speed, settled this one. 4 goals. A power play that finished the series 8 for 21. Solid goaltending from 2 different guys, who supposedly *just the backup and third guy. 6-3 final as the Penguins eliminate the Rangers for a 4-1 series win. Video from TSN available here. Worth a look at the goals, and for anyone thinking Cros is some elitist? Watch the hit he delivers
In his last 26 games, he has 24 points. The Penguins have won 18 of their last 21 games. That is red hot
I hate Afternoon Games. And Anaheim wins for the first time at home , 5-2 taking a 3-2 series lead. Game 6 is Monday in Nashville. It wasn't a bad game for Nashville, but getting only as close as 3-2 just wont do it. I fear they let them slip off the hook by not winning at least one game on home ice.
Hawks game in progress

Re: NHL Playoffs 2016 Thread
To be the champion, you have to fight through adversity. Pain. Tears. And criticism. This is why the Champs dont die easily
After going down 3-1 in the first, the Hawks battle back to tie it, then go ahead, THEN pour it on to win 6-3. Everyone contributed. Crawford was stung bad at the end of the 2nd by a shot, but sucked it up, and stood on his head in the 3rd. And Hossa, 2A and a empty net goal to ice it. Kids, pay attention there: hitting the net from centre ice is what you supposed to do. Missing the net from the point? Get back out there and practice. Hitting that target is how you SEAL the win.
Now we have Game Seven. In the Stanley Cup Playoffs. It doesn't get any better than this
Game Seven goes Monday

Re: NHL Playoffs 2016 Thread
I dont know what you can say about Minnesotta. After going down 4-0 and doing squat-all for 2 and a quarter periods, they come back and tie the frabbing thing , with half a period left. And then take a dumb penalty. And give up a even dumber goal. And that was all she wrote. Dallas wins the game 5-4 and the series 4-2. About all you can say then , is, "WHERE THE FUCK WERE YOU IMBECILIC RETARDS FOR THE REST OF THE GAME!!!" And their coach, yeah. As someone just put it now, I've never seen a happier losing coach than that...
Give me the fucking GM keys.... I'll cure THAT
Just... some fans might have liked it, unless you happened to be in Dallas. But this is the kind of loss you put your head or fist through the wall over. Why DIDN'T they show some fire until it was basically too late? And then, after fighting back to tie the game, you pull a bonehead move that costs you the game?
To hell with it
Weak sisters must all DIE

Re: NHL Playoffs 2016 Thread
Midway through the 2nd OT period, John Tavares ends it and wins the series with the 2-1 victory. The first series win for the Islanders in 23 years. In their new building and for their fans . Bravo. A sweeter wraparound you would be hard pressed to see
