George Foreman has died at the age of 76.

Foreman was a two-time heavyweight boxing champion and Olympic gold medalist. Nicknamed Big George, in later years he became the spokesperson for the George Foreman Grill, which sold millions of units.

The news was shared by his family on his official Instagram account on Friday, March 21.

"Our hearts are broken. With profound sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved George Edward Foreman Sr. who peacefully departed on March 21, 2025 surrounded by loved ones. A devout preacher, a devoted husband, a loving father, and a proud grand and great grandfather, he lived a life marked by unwavering faith, humility, and purpose," the statement read.

I clearly remember him circling the ring waving a small American flag in 1968 at the Mexico City Olympics after winning a gold medal - a nice image compared to some others at the same games. He presented a genuine nice-guy image in a tough sport, and he was one of the best. RIP.

That was a cool miniseries. Later when I mentioned it to my boss he loaned me his Shogun dualogy (Shogun is a 2 book set). Wow! All of the mystery was gone. In the book you were told what the Japanese were thinking and why they did certain things. I don't even think the miniseries had subtitles, so it was more vague on the story.

Though the movie was a bit of a wash, how could we forget King Solomon's Mines (1985)?
