Should have been about £400 or £500 or something, but the dude didn't put "and 17 games" in the the title of the listing, just in the actual description itself, and the image was just a stock PS3 image rather than a photo he took himself, so only people that investigated his completely unremarkable-looking PS3 listing discovered it came with all the games!

Should be coming in the post next day or two.

Moral of the story... ebay = win.

Um before you put Ebay = win, you might want to make sure you actually get it in the mail. Reason I'm saying this is that Ebay is notorious for users getting their accounts hacked. My friend bought a PS3 on Ebay and it had the stock picture. Guy never sent it. Eventually we found out that somebody in Europe hacked the sellers account.
If you have Paypal its not so big a deal nowadays since they give you some or most of your money back, but its still quite a hassle.
I hope you do get your PS3 man. I sell on their quite frequently and I always make sure to put a real picture as opposed to a stock picture. You never know what you can get with that.
Hope u get it though.

Indeed, I considered that possibility, but given that I paid with paypal, its hard to see how they could possibly benefit from trying to rip me off. They'd be £200 richer for all of one week, so unless they've got a really good high-interest saving account, they wouldn't get any sort of profit from it. :?:

I would simply complain to ebay/paypal, the item has complete protection therefore full refund. The seller would be unable able to claim that I actually received the item as they would have to show the proof of postage. So paypal would just give me the refund and take the money back from them. Or, if paypal were being annoying or taking too long, just do a chargeback on my card. (Indeed, there are notorious problem BUYERS who tell their card company that they've been ripped off and do a chargeback, on everything.)

So either (1) I get my PS3, yay, or (2) I'm short £200 for a week and then have it back, to spend on another PS3 from someone else, or an actual retail shop.

I sell on ebay occasionally, and fact is that until recently I didn't actually have digital camera, so everything was stock pictures, heh.

I think you should know the opposite side of that ;)

An artist from DeviantArt was commissioned to draw a hentai pic. He did his job, sent the picture to the customer and got his money via Paypal. After some (short) time Paypal took the money back. The reason was that the customer proved to be a kid who took his father's card and used it to commission some porn. The father discovered the fact, examined the pictures (more than one - there were several artists involved), identified them as explicit porn (what was the truth), and demanded the money back. Of course there were no way to return anything to the artists - the pictures were delivered digitally, and nobody can return the time that the artists spent for drawing. Ridiculously, despite the fact that it was the father's fault (nobody is authorized to give his card to another person, especially if that person is underage), Paypal screwed the artists...

Just put in my preorders for FFXIII and Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition (Both on 360). Next week I'll most likely be getting Bad Company 2 (PC). Currently playing Star Trek Online, LEGO Rock Band, and Mass Effect 2. STO has been a fun distraction, but I don't think it will last for me.

Blargh... For those of us that happen to own the older, larger PS3 console please be aware that there is a problem with the console's internal calendar and time keeping hardware. It seems that it's experiencing a one part leap year problem bug (system thinks that the 29th of February should have been in place of the 1st of March) and one part Y2K+10 time computation issue stemming from a known bug in the system clock. I want to assume that the problem has run it's course and everything is fine again, but until Sony states otherwise, I suggest keeping the system powered off for a while.

Ack, little update: It seems that it worked it self out WITHOUT Sony's help. Sadly, they still need to correct the problem or it could still happen every year or so thereafter.

Happy gaming!

Yeah it happened to me last nite as well. I was playing Marvel Ulitimate ALliance 2 during the day just fine. And then get the famous error code later on at night. I was flipping out. Couldn't even play games offline.
Glad to see things are back to normal now.

Anybody out there have a computer good enough to play Metro 2033? Looks pretty sweet but I don't think my rig can handle it without at least a video card upgrade. :(

Don't feel too badly about that game man. If you read up on the minimum requirements for it, the devs make it sound as if you need a rig that's powerful enough to run Crysis at max settings; and, the optimum settings are the latest and greatest Intel processor and 8 gigs of ram. WTF were they thinking? It even sounds unoptimized with what they want and it doesn't look much better than Bioshock 1 or 2.
