I don't even know that serious gunfighters even left an empty chamber. Just my opinion but the chances accidental discharge are exaggerated.

au contrer, mon ami... :) posted this back a ways, you may have missed it. Graphically illustrates the difference between the old style SA revolvers and the modern ones. That John Wayne load is definitely not BS. It is not a factor at all with modern revolvers, or something like the reproduction Vaquero's from Ruger. But also convention for the cowboy action shooters, just to stay in the habit

I have to say that is an eye opener......Why doesn't my pipe shotgun go off that easy lol.....I've never actually shot anything without a transfer bar in it so it's not something I actually have experience with.

Yeah, he really makes his point in that video. Especially since the old Colt .45 is so popular and is likely out there in big numbers. The difference when he does the same test with a modern .44 , live round no less, really drives it home :D
