But, his point is well taken; how many of those pieces do they make in a year? And they have to meet their bottom line, so the market more or less sets the price. A select fire version like the real deal would be pretty cool, once the assorted paperwork sorted out. Firing full-power 30-06 in burst mode be different

I used to have a Browning semi-auto 12 gauge. That beast was heavy! Full choke barrel, too, so if you put a slug through it, it would almost break your shoulder. Still kicking myself for selling it- would have made a decent turkey gun.

Wild turkeys are surprisingly tough, and (unlike their domestic cousins) pretty darn smart and wary. When a turkey's wing is folded over the side of its body, all that keratin provides a measure of ballistic protection. Too long a range and/or too light shot size, and the pellets will literally bounce off.
Most turkey hunters I know try to call the bird(s) in as close as possible, then try for a head shot. A few hunters even forego the traditional shotgun and use a .22 target rifle, again going for the head shot.

^^Yup. They'll take direct body hits from .22LR and just keep right on Gobbling. By the time you have a cartridge or shotgun load big enough to get through the feathers it's so powerful that it'll ruin the bird. Head shot is the only option.
