Lots of Muskol or Deep Woods Off. :D

I'm more bothered by deer flies, personally... I tend to wait until they burn off a bit, say mid to late July, before venturing out. Now I hear deer ticks are abundant this year, and with the rise in Lyme Disease, it makes me a little nervous about heading out.

Tip--eat lots of garlic and/or take garlic pills. I take them regularly in the summer, rarely if ever use insect repellent and I don't get bit much. Supposedly something in the garlic gets sweated out through your pores that bugs don't like. Or it could just be epic garlic breath. :D

A tip for removing a tick from self or animals-Get a sharp nosed pair of tweezers, grasp the tick as close to the head as possible, pull out & twist anti clockwise at the same time Apparently they dig in with a clockwise motion & this way you "unscrew" them Tried it & it works Also on animals soak the tick in insecticide Kills the tick & not the host Haven't tried this one on self yet but it works well on dogs

Like Granddad said, "An apple a day keeps the doctor away; a garlic a day keeps EVERYBODY away!" :)

Supposedly the garlic pills/capsules do whatever they do without giving you garlic breath. But yeah, mudding is no fun when the clouds of insects think you're tasty, and think 100% DEET is barbecue sauce. ;)

Sounds reasonable, maybe this is the true story behind the garlic / Vampire myth since all those insects do also want my blood. Negative effect is: it's also working against people....
