Sad to hear. 74 is an extremely long life for a human of gigantic proportions. Maintaining sufficient blood flow and pressure to operate a seven-foot-plus body tends to be hard on the heart.

One of my early video store rentals was Eegah http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0055946/ I remember thinking "Hey - that's Jaws!"

I am sad to hear that he passed away. His character "Jaws" in the James Bond movies was my favorite foe.

Described on my radio as the most famous cameo in film history.
He absolutely hated the teeth by the way - used to put them in between the words Camera and Action. Also, the scene in Moonraker where he bites through the cable of the cable-car featured a really big piece of liquorice.
In order to make an apple pie from scratch you first have to create the universe.

Sad to hear. Even though he was 7'2", He was more than a giant of a man.

He had a lot of good roles as big, ugly, guys in movies. You start looking around and he pops up in lots of places. I even recognized his voice and animated likeness in the Disney hit Tangled a couple years ago.
Remember The Longest Yard ?
The guy could actually act and he worked steadily. Heard on the BBC today he got to be good buddies with Sir Roger Moore and they frequently traveled together when Moore worked for UNICEF.
He had four kids and one wife who stood only 5'1". What a woman.
Good guy.

It's a dirty job but I got to do it for 27 years. Thank you.

Re: Richard Kiel dead
I was sorry to hear about this. The Spy Who Loved Me was one of the best Bond movies, and THE best one without Sean Connery.
He had a pretty good career prior to Spy. If you watch old TV, he pops up on a memorable Twilight Zone episode. He can also be spotted on The Man from U.N.C.L.E. and I Dream of Genie. Although he didn't have any lines, he was pretty easy to spot as the circus giant in the Elvis Presley film Roustabout.

Sad to hear of Richard Kiel's loss. He certainly added a unique flavor and excitement to those James Bond movies. He was mortal, yet unstoppable and invulnerable. I still liked the scene where he jumped out of a plane without a parachute to attack Bond, and when Bond escaped, Kiel belly flopped right through a barn then later walked out of the door dusting himself off and unscaved.
Best wishes, Mr. Kiel, as you begin your new journey.
