All these cars but the jeep had over 100k on them when purchased (which is usually when major things start to go wrong) and the ones I didn't smash last to at least 175K without any major problems.
You ask me, It's not who built it, it's the owner. Do the maintence in the manual. Keep it tuned up. What makes a car a POS is not taking care of it.

You are absolutely right Mynock, it's not the car but the owner who determines the longevity or demise of said automobile. Here's a pictures of my grandmother who defied the stereotype and drove the shit out of everything she owned! :o

A man who knows what he's saying.

My first car was a 1969 Ford LTD I paid $750.00 for with 45,000 miles on it. In this day you could only expect a car to last 75k anyway. I put exactly that on it with no problems.

Traded it for a -

1977 Chevy Monte Carlo with 45,000 miles. Drove it to 110,000. No problems.

Traded it for a -

1986 Ford Thuderbird - My first new car. 112,000 miles. Ran like a top the entire time.

Became married and practical during that time. Traded it for -

1992 Toyota Pickup - New - 107,000 trouble free miles.

Got a kid - Traded it for a -

2001 Toyota Camry - New - 105,000 miles. No problems as of this morning and expect to give it to my daughter in 2016 when she gets her license.

And -

1998 Ford Ranger Pickup - New - Still got it after 218,000 miles. I'm going to drive it until the wheels fall off. Then duct tape them back on and drive it more. Paid for and runs is all that matters now.

I may not know much but I do know that at least between Ford and Toyota its hard to buy a bad vehicle as long as you take proper care of it. 8-)
It's a dirty job but I got to do it for over 20 years. Thank you.

I flipped a Ranger 2 days before I graduated high school. It rolled 3 times, stopped when it hit a tree. After the bleeding stopped and the cop wrote me a ticket for driving too fast I drove it home. The frame was bent so bad that 1 wheel wasn't quite touching the ground but it made it back to my house, and then down to the mechanics to be scrapped. The motor and tranny are still running, for all I know. Built Ford Tough indeed. 8-)
