For Nessie, 2 days shy of his 5 year time but good shots. Happy boy.

And five years to the day that this little runt entered our lives, discovered wandering down Scott Drive in New City, NY on 12-11-2009.

Dogs is the best kind of people. I'm sure Charlie fits that perfectly.

My daughter has been volunteering at the animal shelter all summer and we've had to resist adopting oh...about a thousand dogs. Nearly caved on a beautiful creature a few days ago but fortunately some great person got to it before we did.

^^+1. Wish my work schedule left time for a dog. I have to stick with less cuddly things that are more independent.

Buried the best friend I ever had in September this year. Only a couple of people know how important that dog had become in the qs community. She actually played a very important role for 10-12 years. Regardless of that she was my constant shadow, companion, confidant, protector, and regulator of blood pressure. I'm not noted for being very emotional but missing her is still hurting me. Maybe by spring I'll be ready to welcome another such friend but for right now there's just not room.

Duncan, find the room when you can - whoever you adopt, will fill the room very quickly.

I can relate. Parents got us kids this mutt when I was 5 years old, Beagle/Spaniel mix with some Terrier thrown in for good measure. That was the only dog we ever had. Not because it ended up being too much trouble or anything, but because for some reason she ended up having an astounding lifespan of 21 years. We don't know her age to the day we just counted from the day we brought her home, and it was one day before this anniversary we finally had to put her down due to kidney failure. You don't forget an animal you bonded with for that long.

How did this one slip under my radar? Thank you for yet another photo of adorableness. What a nice pillow he's got, too. Charlie is living well!
