NHL Playoffs 2015

Postby kham » Mon Apr 13, 2015 7:40 pm

It's playoff time again :D

Different matchups this season but that can only be good for the game

Round One

East

Pittsburgh @ NY Rangers Been a while since Crosby been the underdog; but key injuries had the Pens skid the last month, and they almost didn't make it in, only clinching in their last game. Fleury stood on his head, but Lundquist was nearly as good. Rangers though have the President's curse, but this one might go 7. Too close to call; like Pens, nothing invested with Rangers

Ottawa @ Montreal The Sens by any yardstick were dead fucking meat a month ago, but they went on a tear and not only made it, but passed Pittsburgh. Ton of young talent here, this series could be a fast one. Montreal a very good team this year, but, they Montreal  and I'd rather cheer for fucking Hitler than them. Sens in 5

Detroit @ Tampa Bay Motor City vs Stevie Y's club. Could be close, but Tampa is a bit faster skating club and on paper should handle them. Tampa in 6

NY Islanders @ Washington Another of those series' that you got the meh feeling for :) Ovechkin should score some goals, but just can't cheer for him. Washington in 5

West

Winnipeg @ Anaheim First appearance in the playoffs by the Jets since 1996. Should be a fun series for them, but realistically the Ducks are overloaded with talent and power, as well as goaltending. Ducks in 5

Minnesota @ St Louis Minnesota has as they say, enough talent, behind an excellent goaltender. Dubnyk might be the wild card here, even though the Blues *should easily handle them on paper. But the playoffs are never paper. Tough to call. Blues in 7. Maybe 7OT :)

Calgary @ Vancouver No one expected the Flames to be in this year, but here we are. The twins are supposedly still good, but they always have been a bit soft in the playoffs. Goaltending might be a slight edge to Hiller in Calgary, but that's always a crap shoot when two closely matched teams line up. Calgary in 7

Chicago @ Nashville Hawks remain my favourite team; not only for the best logo in the league  but having the talent up front. Toews defines what it takes to be a team captain; tough, talented, and scores when the pressure on and when it matters. Kane WILL be back in game one, and he's the sort of player that you'd literally have to kill or carry off the ice in these games. The Preds are no bunch of soft cheese either, Shea Weber dominating on defence. Might be a very entertaining series; Hawks in 7, but a war

Fails and Epic Fails

Leafs - went from winning 10 out of 12 in December, suddenly fires coach, and spirals out of control about as bad as if you shot a pilot in the face. Entire staff fired at end of season.

Bruins - not epic, but they picked a bad time to skid. Especially with other teams streaking the other direction. Dont expect lot of changes (shouldnt, it would be fucking stupid, but...)

Buffalo - Cant say the 'tank' thing, I guess... but they finished dead fucking last, eliminating any lotto runoff for the Connor McDavid draft pick. Another outfit that fired everyone, which WAS fucking stupid. Typical NY-think hockey, keep the GM that engineered this fucking debacle but everyone else gets the gate. I wouldn't be surprised if McDavid starts talking "trade me" before he's even drafted

Los Angeles - It's a rare thing that the defending champs dont make the playoffs the following season. But thats precisely what happened here. Has a lot of insiders going DAFUQ, as well as the team. But they just couldnt keep up with the pace set by other clubs, finishing 4 points behind the Jets, so it wasn't even close.

Ok
GAME ON

** edited for ranking/matchups; its a mark of how RETARDED the NHL is that a simple conference-matchup is not how they fucking doing it? Jesus, try being simple girls, it not only works, but would give something different for matching up

Montreal 4-3 over Ottawa; they hang on to win, but this series went from dont like each other to fucking 11 on the rage scale in period 1. Starts (of course) with the whiny little cocksucker Subban, who gave a nasty high stick to an Ottawa player carelessly (hard enough to smash the fellas visor into face and nose) and whined and bitched his way out of that. Cue period 2, where the Sens pressing, and the motherfucker (oh, get sense I hate the whiny little cunt?) delivers a 2-handed swing right at Stone's wrist, ABOVE the glove ala Graves on Mario years ago. The ref I think hadnt liked the one he got out of, and I suspect something had been said on ice, since he didnt miss a fucking beat, giving him 5 AND THE GATE. A lot of bullshit about whether deserved or not, but there was no reason for the slash, and the cocksucker had already slimed out of one double minor, so FUCK HIM  He, personifies why people fucking HATE Montreal; a collection of whiny, self-centred, Shilleries demanding coronation. They won, sure, but hoo boy this will, WILL be ugly from this point on. The Sens coach put it simple: he should get some suspension, or maybe one of their better players gets slashed and we just get 5.....
Stay tuned

Calgary 2-1; a close checking game, with the goaltenders both playing fantastic hockey. Hiller (43 the old man) performing like he 10 years younger, and Eddie Lack equally good. Was tied up until 28 sec left in 3rd Period when Flames scored the backbreaker on bit of a screen. That late, there's no time to plan or anything. Nick Kyprios did mention he was surprised the Canucks didnt call a timeout, but maybe they were too shocked. Good game

NY Islanders 4-1 Washington; Well. Not even a close game, the Islanders outplayed the Caps at every aspect. The youngsters showed their stuff.

Chicago 4-3 over Nashville in double OT; Nashville had been up 3-0..... but the Hawks showed just why exactly they are a deadly playoff team. Toews had a goal and an assist, and Keith scored the winner at 7:49 of double OT. Its only game one, but losing like this is brutal.

Ottawa reported today that Stone has suffered an apparent microfracture (must be newspeak for a hairline fracture......I miss the 20th century...) of his right wrist. And apparently no punishment for the little cocksucker Subban. They mention as an afterthought, none for Ottawa coach Cameron from suggesting some certain motherfucker might get a haircut somewhere around his throat, too. Reciprocity? Fucking hardly. Fines are just money and the team pays. Dickface gets to play scot-free in game 2. Y'know if this was just old-school hockey? He'd be a better player. Since someone would have already punched his fucking face out the back of his skull. Just sayin'

You know im a Habs fan, not the tinted goggles kind, What Subban did was wrong, and Stone sold it, now Ottawa is trying to turn the media against Subban and create a dumb narrative and add politics where there should be none.

Its incredibly embarrassing for the NHL when they do this.

The Sens coaching staff should spend more time preparing for the next game instead of making threats, since they got beat by a Habs team that was down 2 of its core players for the majority of the game.

I said before, I'll say again:
Subban would not only be a better player and LIKED more, if he had just shut up, and do his job, FROM DAY ONE. His ego didnt allow that, he chose to be a whiny little bitch and consequently, here we are. I was ' what the FUCK are you doing??? ' in the first period when he clocked that guy -- that should have been a double minor, careless use of stick. Nope, whine whine whine. And I'd pay real money to know what was said on the ice, because I'd bet you a pair of reds and popcorn, the ref was pissed at something. Because the second go, he tossed his ass so fast, you may as well have grabbed him by the balls and hair and threw him over the boards. Referees are people too, and it's not smart to show them up. Billy McCreary was the EXCEPTION, not the rule. And he's gone now.

Stone is day-to-day. The mere fact, that at this time of year they have said he has a microfracture is eyebrow raising. Especially since normally, you could have been kicked in the balls by a skate, and they'd call it a "lower body injury"

You know I thought you were really damn biased but that post proves me wrong, apoligies.

I just think this whole episode is from Emotions running high since they met in the playoffs not even 2 years ago and it was a bloody series. It should really be kept on the ice though, not off.

Its funny because I thought these playoffs were going to be boring without a Boston Bruins team for the Habs to play against.

Next game should be fun indeed.

You should see what Bryan Murray said in his interview. He didnt lose it but he pretty much laid it out, and is not pleased with how the NHL is handling it. it would be smarter to keep the emotions down, and he pretty much did, sticking to the facts he had, and what he said to the officials. Now, whats stoking it is, you guessed it.... widdddle PK and his ego. Someone, I dont know who the Canadien's captain is should drag him off -camera, followed by sounds of bitchslapping and tell this imbecile to SHUT THE FUCK UP. Yapping on about how "oh, I'VE been slashed harder than that! "
Wut
DAFUQ
Are
You
DOING??
it's almost like he WANTS to provoke something. The downside there, is
a) you just might and
b) you might not like how it turns out, son

Rangers 2 Pitt 1 -- Lots of scramblie play by the Pens, and poor discipline in taking too many stupid penalties. Crosby was non-factor. Good goaltending at either end, but not the sort that gets the blood going

Detroit 3 Tampa 2 -- A little bit more exciting but again a bit of a ho-hum game with not a lot standing out, other than the usual suspects being invisible, which hopefully is just nerves.

Minnesota 4 St Louis 2 -- Minn added the empty netter so this was a little closer than score shows, a good game for a young team; pressure always on the home team, and it showed here.

Anaheim 4 Winnipeg 2 -- A good game, stayed close until the 3rd period when Anaheim got that slight edge and didn't let it go. The 2 biggest teams in the playoffs and it showed; some real bombs delivered banging around, but as most games like that, no dirty stuff -- this likely could be the best series out west of round one
