Jurrasic World Open Thread

With the movie being released this week, may as well open a thread for those who get a chance to see it :) I think I'll be waiting for disk or movie channel, but we'll see. It might be an ok popcorn movie, but I have my doubts :P
Considering the basic premise seems to go like this:

Boss: We need a new dinosaur to increase sales.
Scientist: Sure. Which one would you like? There are hundreds to choose from.
Boss: No, no, I mean, we need to make a new dinosaur, like a hybrid or something.
Scientist: Umm, why?
Boss: Dinosaurs aren't good enough.
Scientist: What? Dinosaurs aren't good enough? We're already raking in billions in profits every year!
Boss: Right, and my goal is to make even more money this year. We're not doing this for a charity you know.
Scientist: I guess. So what are you thinking? Miniaturized pets? I think that's a great idea, what kid wouldn't want a little dinosaur as a pet-
Boss: Make me MURDERSAURUS-REX!
Scientist: ...what's that?
Boss: Basically a T-Rex. But Bigger. Meaner. And without those stupid little arms. Oh, and I want it to be as intelligent as possible. And make it so that it can learn from it's mistakes. And make it so that it can communicate with other dinosaurs.
Scientist: ...
Boss: The crowds full of unarmed civilians and children will love it! What could possibly go wrong?

.....

What REALLY should have happened to EVERY island InGen owned after the first film was
THIS

That's pretty much an accurate summary of the studio meeting that green-lighted this movie.

That's about it. My days of viewing something just to witness a gratuitous slaughter of innocents are behind me. Unless I'm directing. (How weird is that?)

I'll watch it, having become a huge fan of Chris Pratt. His tenure as Starlord, and the events he has done before and after with kids makes you know he is a good guy. It can't be worse than the Lost World: JP. or JP3. Or Batman & Robin.

I still say if you're going to play with the DNA make miniature ones. Screw the Tryranno-Raptor, I want a Pot Bellied Triceratops and a mini Mosasaurus for my aquarium.

Hell, we been looking at science in the rear view mirror a while, with utterly no respect to the 'vaunted' Crichton. They never seem to consider, that these poor critters, would be gasping for air; the O2 content of the atmosphere way back when was somewhat higher than today, like around 28-30%. Pretty hard to run a huge predator when they are essentially up in the Andes for you and me....

This franchise and science parted ways long before the first movie was ever made. The premise of clonable DNA from a fossilized mosquito is total crap, you might get some fragments but never enough to actually grow a dinosaur.
Saw an article not long ago about the possibility of 'reactivating' old genes in bird embryos and essientially causing them to develop into what they once were.......crazy shit if it works.

No........and wow. The one I read was talking about it in the theoretical. Somebody's actually DOING it.
