I will refrain from any sort of political comment, but I can say I remember exactly where I was when I heard the news. I was aged 13 and home ill from school. The phone rang. It was my father. His first words to me were, "Are you watching the news?"

At that particular point in time the news was only that John Kennedy had been shot. I turned on the TV in time to see Walter Cronkite tearfully announce that he had died.

i was in class, we had just come back from lunch... the announcement was made over the intercom and they sent us home early... i remember some idiot loudly saying "good thing he's dead"... i guess our polarized nation isn't completely a new phenomena

That's part of the problem we have now. Even one as partisan conservative as myself recognizes that's not the way we change presidents in the country. We salute the rank if not the man. To do so now gets you tagged as being harshly on side or another.
