Garand Commits Gun Violence on Hickok

Here's his little note from his Facebook feed:
"My Garand commited "Gun Violence" on me this morning; maybe the Gun / Freedom haters are correct.
Actually, thinking Christmas day would be a good time to strip down my Springfield Garand for a thorough cleaning, I began by letting the bolt catch my left thumb really good, which resulted in a big Ouch and some blood-letting. You'd think if I were going to suffer the indignity of "Garand Thumb," I'd at least get it by the classic method, which involves not getting your thumb out of the action when loading a fresh clip of ammo. I had to figure out a new way.
Anyway, with bleeding stopped and bandage in place, I thoroughly enjoyed the total break-down and thorough cleaning of the the old "boy." Since he served his purpose in WWII in 1944 and '45, the least I can do is give him some tender loving care occasionally, even if he did "bite" me for being stupid."
