C-130J Crash Report

Postby kham » Fri Apr 22, 2016 11:34 pm

From AirForceTimes
Bugger :(

I've followed this on a couple boards and one thing that I have found a bit disturbing, is that the "flight controls free and clear" thing is not on the checklist. That just seems wrong. Jesus, I watch MrAviation101 do it in every one of his videos on a goddamned Cessna or a Mooney. Not to mention that whole Naval Aviation thing of 'wiping out the controls' before every launch. This isn't new or mind-bending stuff. It just underlines though, that there are no little mistakes in flying.

By the sound of it, this was a hot turnaround offload with the crew remaining in the aircraft while the unload/load cycle took place...deadly in this instance, but the "it flew in, it will fly out" mentality of an op like that is usually relied upon.
