Lake Powell mud expedition anyone?

Postby mudxdresser » Sun May 01, 2016 8:19 am

Is anyone here interested in participating in an expedition to Lake Powell to quest for the mudflats at the upper end of the lake, probably late July or early August? There are often vast mudflats on Lake Powell below where the Colorado River comes into the lake somewhere below Hite but they are very hard to get to without a boat. You can sometimes see the mudflats on Google satellite view.

I've done this before. A pontoon boat is rented for 5-7 days in Page, Arizona and we camp on the boat or at anchorage on the 150 mile journey up lake to where the mudflats are. Regardless of whether mud is found or not, it is an amazing experience seeing Lake Powell and camping under the stars.

Cost of the rental is over $4000 so it would be nice to have three mudmen aboard to help split the cost. Let me know if you might be interested.
